Location: Edinburgh Castle
In the Eyes Of: Velocitario
I’ll admit, it was nice to be at the castle with a happy mood in the atmosphere, seeing as how the last two meetings involved some less-than-pleasant encounters. This time around, I was checking up on my students, who had spent the last week learning about the local racing leagues, and showing great potential, according to their mentors. However, I’ve had a little something in mind for them, and I was going to deliver it to them as we all stood in the castle’s driveway.
Honoka: So, what’s up, ‘Tario?
Umi: Yeah, we wrecked the racing leagues, and our concert is today! What more could we have to do?
Velocitario: Well, I’ve been looking over the statistics, and I have to say, I’m liking what I’ve been seeing, especially from our two road racers.
Nozomi and Skye put on a smug grin. Though, they should know by now what happens when they think they’ve got it all figured out: I drop the bombshell.
Velocitario: Now, I should admit, I have been putting you up against rookies, and my drivers may have been going easy on you-
Eli: Wait, those were rookies!?
Velocitario: Cool your jets, I have a reason. And it’s because I’ve been preparing you for one final challenge.
They all curiously looked at me as I clapped twice. On cue, a camera crew positioned themselves behind me, as well as a big TV screen, which showed a massive crowd gathered at the Festival. I turned to address the audience on the other side.
Velocitario: What’s up, Horizon UK? LET ME HEAR YOU!!
The crowd roared in response. I knew deep down that if there was one thing I can do, it’s work an audience.
Velocitario: Alright, thank you, thank you. Now, as you know, Muse has been tearing up the roads in the racing leagues under the supervision of some of my drivers. And it’s funny I should mention them, because I’ve got them right here!
I stepped aside and let the camera focus on the nine idols (Plus Skye) behind me, to which the crowd replied to with a wave of applause.
Velocitario: Okay, here’s the deal. They’ve been doing pretty good so far, but it’s time for me, as their teacher, to give them their final exams. But before we do that, we have a few special guests here to do it with them. Give it up for THESE guys!
And from my right, six drivers walked onto the scene, which I could immediately tell gave mixed results. Sure, the crowd was cheering because of the new identities I had given them, but Muse knew it was the former members of Team Generic. But to make sure they didn’t take it the wrong way, I tried a spot of telepathy.
Velocitario: (Guys, it’s ‘Tario. I’m speaking to you telepathically. I know you don’t want to see these guys right now, but just roll with it.)
Velocitario: Now, we’ve been thinking about it for a while, but if this lot is going to team up, they’re going to need a team name. And fortunately, we’ve got one. So… Morgan, Talon, Jade, Infinite, Mercury, Alex, Skye, and all the members of Muse… by the power vested in me as Horizon Emperor, I hereby christen thee…
(Dramatic Pause…)
Team Live:Wire.
And while the newly christened team was slightly shocked, the crowd at the festival was practically exploding. But I wasn’t done yet.
Velocitario: Okay, back to the challenge. These guys have the cars, and they have the skills, but do they know how to use them? To find out, I’ve devised a little test. Now, if you’ll notice, EVERYTHING is down where you guys are, at the festival. The crowd’s down there. The stage’s down there. The cars, the music, A-Rise, Mario, Sonic, blah-blah-blah. However, these guys… aren’t.
(Dramatic Pause #2…)
Velocitario: So, to find out which of our breakout idol drivers has learned the most… we’re gonna have a little race. We’re up here in Edinburgh, and YOU guys…
I pointed to the team behind me, who was very good at staying silent. Good on them.
Velocitario: Are going to race down to the festival, which is about nine miles of road. First one there wins, right? Well… not really. Because I’ve thrown a little curveball into this challenge. Team Live:Wire won’t be the only guys racing towards the festival. Let me hear y’all make some noise for the SIGNATURE EDITION DRIVERS!!
Not a second later, my twenty drivers pulled out of the garage behind everyone, much to the approval of the crowd. I had called on everyone: Iris, Terence, Cynthia, Slipstream, Lambda, Dusty, Rusty, the whole nine yards.
Velocitario: So, not only will Team Live:Wire be racing amongst themselves, they’ll also be racing against a team of the fastest drivers at the festival. Though… might as well call me Billy Mays, because BUT WAIT! There’s more! As one final incentive to make this race as exciting as possible, everyone here has one more opponent-
Nozomi: WE GET IT!! You’re trying to hype this up! Will you hurry it along!?
Velocitario: Actually, that’s something you’ll want to be doing more than me.
Skye: ?
Velocitario: Because… according to this schedule I’ve got here, you all are due on stage for the concert that’s going on right now. And if you want to be on time for the grand finale, you’ve got THREE MINUTES to get there.
Nico: Wh-Three minutes!? Do you know what speed we’ll have to average to make that?
Velocitario: Yes, 180 Miles an Hour. And I suggest you get a move on, because the longer you stand here, the faster you need to go to make that.
Seconds later, the moment set in, and everyone sprinted to their cars. The horde of engines roared to life, and the pack of performance machines blew past me. Slowly, the dust cleared, and Sydney appeared next to me.
Sydney: Aren't you going after them, boss?
Velocitario: Yeah…
Thought I'd take the scenic route.
