Final Exams, Part Two
Location: Southbound, Approaching the Festival
Deep in Lakehurst Forest, you'd normally expect to hear the sounds of nature: Rustling wind, chirping birds, and the flowing water from the nearby Reservoir. But on this particular day, there was only one sound around: The sound of engines. And this sound came from a massive group of racers that were charging through the forest, at the head of which were Nozomi and Skye. Despite the fact that their teammates were peppered throughout the pack, it was evident that they only cared about the win.
It was a dead heat as both McLarens charged towards the festival, knowing it was going to be not only a competition to see who would brake first, but also to see if they could make the time limit. It also didn't help that almost every driver was now tailing them and closing fast. But then, they both got a radio transmission.
Velocitario: You girls doing well?
Skye: Can this wait!? We're seconds from the festival!!
Velocitario: Ah, it's no biggie. I'm just wondering if you'd like a warning.
Nozomi: A warning? About what?
Velocitario: Look up.
And as they both drifted around the sharp corner after entering the festival, a roaring engine was heard before the whole scene practically went into slow motion. Skye and Nozomi were in perfect tandem as they slid across the intersection, but what caught the crowd's attention was a blue Agera RS that was now quite literally flying over the two at 250 Miles an Hour. The driver had done this by entering the tunnel behind the two drivers and kept the hammer down over the ramp in the road. And sticking in the Agera's slipstream was an Ascari KZ1R, one that neither Nozomi nor Skye had seen before. But it mattered not, as they both sailed over the two and landed gracefully in front of them, screeching to a halt as they crossed a hastily made finish line in front of the concert. Seconds later, Nozomi and Skye crossed the line dead even and stopped in front of the other two.
Nozomi: Where the heck did these guys come from…?
Out of the tire smoke, the Ascari's door opened to reveal a girl, roughly sixteen years of age, with a black ponytail, a blue Horizon Tee and jeans. Moments after, the Agera's door opened, and Velocitario stepped out, much to the other's surprise.
Skye: What th- 'Tario? What are you doing driving Terminal Velocity's ride?
Velocitario: What do you mean? Did I never tell you we're the same person?
Nozomi: Erm… No.
Velocitario: Terminal Velocity is just the nickname I take on when I race at Horizon. I know it might sound confusing.
Then, the remaining Signature Edition drivers pulled across the line with the rest of Team Live:Wire in tow. Curiously, Velocitario looked at his watch.
Velocitario: Well, whaddaya know. Just on time.
A Few Minutes Later, On Stage
Velocitario: Yes, thank you, Horizon UK! That was one hell of a drive, and it's worth it to see such a crowd here!
Velocitario was addressing the crowd as Team Live:Wire stood and chatted just behind him.
Hanayo: How on earth were they so much faster than us? It's like they flipped a switch and they all got a thousand horsepower, or something!
Umi: Honestly, I don't care that we lost. I'm just glad I'm intact after all that.
Eli: I second that. Maybe jumping that bridge wasn't such a good idea.
Suddenly, however, they were interrupted by the man on center stage.
Velocitario: And, of course, the main feature. Let me hear you one more time for TEAM LIVE:WIRE!!
The crowd cheered in response as Velocitario waved for them to come over. They all walked to the mic, where he was waiting while holding a small stack of papers in his hand, which was supposedly statistics sheets.
Velocitario: Thank you, again. Now, let's see how it was for them. Honoka, how did it feel out there?
Honoka: Real talk? It was almost too much of an adrenaline rush. Those guys got on the gas, and they were just gone, like that.
Velocitario: Alright, Rin, you still have a functioning spine. What was the drive like?
Rin: It was scary, I have to be honest. All I could to was follow Terence and pray that I wasn't about to fly into a tree.
Velocitario: That's realistic, I can see that. Now, let's all face facts for a moment: Even though you did BARELY make the time limit, you lost.
At this notion, the team did seem rather discouraged. Even Skye and Nozomi, who were only a few seconds off from Velocitario at the line.
Velocitario: And as your mentor, all I can say is…
And out of nowhere, he threw the stack of papers into the air.
Velocitario: WHO CARES!?
This shocked the team back into reality, a reality where the crowd was also silent in confusion.
Velocitario: I mean, do you guys have any idea - ANY idea - what you just did!?
Talon: Um… lost?
Velocitario: Well, technically, yes, but IGNORE THAT. Talon, you and the gang were impressive in your own right, but MUSE? You lot came here as just a bunch of Japanese Idol girls with NO driving experience, and acquired the skills necessary to tail professional drivers in the span of ONE WEEK!!
Nozomi: Yes, we did do that, now that you ment-
Velocitario: FURTHERMORE, you still got your concert rehearsal mastered in that time! If that is not dedication in the purest form, I don't know what is. As a teacher, I'm proud of you all.
Velocitario gave a humble golf clap, followed by a round of applause from the audience.
Velocitario: Now, with the sappy stuff out of the way, shall we get this concert REALLY started?
Umi: With pleasure! From the top, gi-
Velocitario: Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa, hold your horses, missies.
Then, Velocitario held out his hand, and a swirling spiral of ice and fire began to form around it. And after a few seconds, a brief flash of light revealed something in his hand that no-one expected: A guitar.
Velocitario: You didn't honestly think you lot were the only musicians around here?
And suddenly, the lights dimmed, and a drum beat began to play as Velocitario slung his guitar's strap over his shoulder.
