Okay I'm not going to repeat my earlier comments, I'm just going to assume you've been listening so far.

Boarders, texture & shading & runny egg yolk can all apply to this drawing as well.

Although lets focus a bit on shading. Now I'm not going to  go into intricate detail over it, I'm going to be focusing on things you can do that would instantly improve your work.

Bottom left, At first I thought inexplicably that this was lightning, And until I went and took a look at the original image I still would have. Remember, even though they are 2D images, lines on a flat surface, You need to treat them as actual shapes taking form on the other side of the white window. This is where shading comes in. Remember Any shade or texture represents a physical presence, (not in all cases but lets just start with this) The more definition you give your shapes, the more of a presence they will have.

Also on the same note, I'm not sure what pencil you are using but get hold of a B2 or B4, Your shading isn't supposed to be a bunch of individual lines, that's texture, and texture goes hand in hand with shading. Tilt your pencil a bit and work it from an angle, Not long narrow strokes, you want to go for a consistent coat, and remember, even if there are going to be marks, make sure they work in the benefit of the drawing, marks and scratches on armor or skin, or even large bodies of hair with strains, make sure the direction of the pencil emulate these marks and effects rather than trying to "make this area dark so I'm just going to put allot of pencil in  that area"

Don't get me wrong tho, many artists do use rough pencil marks AS shading, but usually in that case the lines move with the shape of the figure itself. And its not to be mistaken for texture...
