On the title: I was going to name it related to "prep for the hit" as... It's another smoker pose. I know, smoking is bad for you. But... I kind of think that holding the smoke is kind of a naturally relaxed posture, and... It works for my figures. So I am drawn to drawing that. But... I like joking about smoking being freudian, you know... a phallic symbol. And the window like lighting on this, kind of Hopper inspired. I love his indoor figures. Of course, he has strong composition, but, very awesome use of color -- which this does not have.Ummm, I dunno. I spent way too long on this, and it kept me from doing other quicker things, and... I'm unhappy about that. Especially because a lot of my quicker ones I think are better.
Lots of work with the blender on this, but, I didn't want to use the blender like, all stiff. I wanted to use it to "paint" areas and play with mark, I didn't want to create perfect blends, I want it loose. Actually at one point it was, blotchy, I still think it's a little blotchy in parts.
I kept reworking those fingers on the bottom, not happy with those.
Crits appreciated and embraced.

It actually reminds me of the way you push charcoal around. Im not a huge fan of the blenders but I love using charcoal in traditional works. And i reaqlly think this has that feel. One thing I would do is maybe make some very dark spots (not alot of them just small points or lines) either shade them in or draw them. with that variation I think it would make parts pop out better.. just a thought. I love the mood in this it does kind of have a hopper feeling.

many thanks on the praise.
...i'm with you big time on the darker spots, especially as to compete with the large dark area of the hair. as I look back on it, there's a lot of middle grey going on. maybe if I got a darker line on her left arm under the triceps, up to the armpit, also maybe the shadow in the right hand too.
always appreciate the extra eye balls! thank you
