Description
This nuthatch perched for a few moments on my mother-in-law's finger after being banded. I've found that nuthatches are very perch oriented and while banding they will usually try to hold onto your fingers with their feet. They usually don't stay long there though. I guess this one was particularly comfortable!-E

Wow, another great shot! How come they are not afraid of humans at all? Incredible! Are they wild-caught?

Thanks! Yup. We caught this one in the backyard. I wouldn't say it's so much that they're not afraid of humans. More that they asses the situation and see no immediate threat. Nuthatches are very feet-y. When you try and take them out of the net they like to hang on to you with their feet. That's just how they feel comfortable. So sometimes they'll hang around for a minute as long as they feel safe. He wasn't there for more than a few seconds and most of the time when you let go, they just fly away.
