Description
So fairytales told me that merrows are green...Know what else is green? Budgies. Budgies (or parakeets, if you prefer) are green in the wild, but once they were kept as pets, the odd colour mutation showed up. Green is made from blue and yellow pigments so they would get the odd budgie with the blue or yellow pigment missing. Thanks to them being in captivity, thus not getting et by some predator because their camouflage was ruined and because humans like stuff that's different, these mutated budgies were bred from. So now we have lots and lots of colours of budgies, even though they should be green, especially since the green is a dominant gene.
Long story short, I theorise that you'd get the occasional blue or yellow merrow, possibly other colours but hahabook5spoilersshutup.
Will-ish merrow was only half intentional X3

Nice use of biology there. So a pink merrow is indeed possible!
Also, what was that about book 5 spoilers?

No, actually. They don't have any red pigment.
