I'm sorry to hear that about Australian rape stats. I'm unsure of Canadian ones, as they were lumped together with the US in terms of how often and who told.

I would think Canadia is less than US. 1 in 4 women are raped in the US I believe and Canadia is a lot less crazy in values and such or so I hear. Fff I say Canadia so much it just...happens now lol.
So it'd probably be around about the statistics of Aus. Probably less, we have a huge drinking culture here and it's...rough because of it, I guess. And Aussies like to not give a fuck about anything on a cultural level- the attitude is endearing but dangerous. It means shit like this gets swept under the rug too easy.

It can be so hard to tell, not wanting to be judged, or admit that it happened. Sometimes it's easier just to keep it bottled up, especially if it happened at a young age. I love this image, it really does convey the pain that this secret brings.

I realize how hard it can be, not because I have or have had an eating disorder, but because I've had other things wrong where the exact feelings have taken root.
It's too bad that people feel they must bottle up their problems when they are serious; too many folks feel they would be inconveniencing others by having them. I sincerely hope that for everyone out there with a serious mental/physical or emotional distress that they have the outreach they need.

When people die from this kind of thing, statistics are totaled from that; many women commit suicide or throw themselves in to a lifelong abusive relationship because they believe they are not worthy of love or respect after being submitted to sexual abuse.

Beautiful and very powerful! It invokes a lot of emotion and leaves the viewer to draw their own conclusions about the parts of the picture you can't see. It reminds me of a picture that I'm planning on doing soon in a kind of round-about way. I promise I'm not copying this or anything, though. (And, teehee, I commented again! Thank you. That is what I was going for. There should always be something of a mystery to photographs, no matter what they are of. If you don't know what's going on in the background, if you don't understand what the model was thinking, etc, it makes for a better all around experience. I'm not very good at doing that, but I do try

This is such a massively powerful image, I know that only the expression of the mouth is showing but I get a feeling of the model sobbing, despaired. I think its the very slight snarl to the upper lip that shows this.

The image itself is awesome...perfect focus and composition with shades of red drawing all the parts of the picture together. The description is a tragedy and the inclusion of those awful statistics makes the photo even more meaningful.
