this piece is so beautiful & romantic. The theme's got me intrigued though. You folks are welcome to answer this question too. Tell me, do you think that Diana's mother & her sisters don't feel comfortable around Kal not because that he's a man, but because that he's an alien, & his physique & godly powers are a grim reminder of their worst enemy which was Heracles?
I'm very interested in your input to my question as well as everybody b/c this piece captures my emotions.

Hm, I think that at first they might be a bit wary of him--- maybe a little due to his abilities and that they know nothing about him--- but not that he's an alien, just simply because he's male. And as for Hippolyta, I don't blame her for being somewhat cautious when it comes to Diana and Superman, Diana is her daughter and what parent isn't protective when it comes to their children? But in the end, she'll approve of Superman once she sees that he is the opposite of what she believes men are in this present day. That not all men are evil. And I just wanna say that it puts a smile on my face knowing you like this piece so much!

No. I don't think they have anything historically against Kal per say.
They view him initially with distrust as they would any man. In comics he did not really date Diana so there is no real issue. And even if they did pursue anything now , Kal is probably one of the few men the amazons really trust based on who he is and his deep friendship with Diana.
If Clark had really dated Diana, not the stupid thing we saw in one story Action 600 that copped out,we might have a different take...as Diana was only just out and the Amazons were just getting use to losing her to the world as champion. That slant could be taken but even then the type of man Superman is would slowly help erase that mistrust. Don't forget Hippolyta herself worked with the JLA and even forgave Hercules after he was severely punished.
So even if Clark and Diana had to meet in secret eventually they would tell Hippolyta. And she would, even if it took some time, understand. She loves Diana end of the day and wants her daughter to be happy and if she realizes that Clark can make Diana happy then she would give her approval because the man himself is worthy.
I mean Gail Simone set up Nemesis, someone out of the blue with no real reason for Hippolyta to trust him or accept him courting Diana and making him an honorary amazon etc. yeah utter bs really when you look at it. So who is Superman if Nemesis can get the Queen's approval?
If anything I think it might not be the amazons who would have a problem with Kal but the likes of Ares and what a union between Superman and Wonder Woman would mean.

Aww, what a piece of art! It's one of the very few instances where Diana is depicted in all her innocence (not that I believe she'll keep it for much longer). I also like what you did with her dress, it looks totally beautiful.
I also love the background, it gives me this holiday feeling with the sea, the southern plants and the many butterflies, not to mention the sunset - or as much as we can see of it. Very well done.

Thought i would throw in a couple of lines of the play. This is really wonderful. Diana's dress is marvellous.
Maybe i should call this a masterpiece just like Shakespeare's play. Love it.

Aw, thanks! I'm so glad you love it. This one took a lot of time and patience from me since i do all my artwork the old fashion way. A weakness for butterflies, huh? Be careful, H, I could use that against you in the future...lol.
