Wanna give this fellow some background! It's just the story I made up for him to explain his looks and stuff. Dear owner can change it, of course. it's just how I've seen him ^^

He is of noble birth, his mother is salkie and his father is Finman (finfolk representative). Even though finfolk are thought to simply abduct those they want to marry, OC's father and mother were bent with a mutual deep love. Their marriage laid foundation for both races union. But even though OC's family had and has everyone's respect, even though he himself has everything he needs, he's been feeling misplaced since he was born. The only thing that can intertain him is shucking off his white coat, hiding it somewhere amongst the shore rocks and going to the human's cities to taste human's food and to hear human's ballads. After shifting his form, OC appears stark naked, so he has some clothes hidden in a cave beside the sea. But even though he goes out of way to look exactly like an ordinary human (to avoid observation), he always fails to conceal his noble lineage.

Once his mother found out he visits firm ground every time it's high water, she persuaded him to wear a golden mask when being surrounded by a human crowd. Why so? History time!

Female selkie is hard to find and even harder to impress, that's why a "human+female selkie" couple is exception to the rules. Usually, the only way to have a selkie as a wife is to steal and hide her coat (hello, violence ).

But as for the male selkies, they are often make love with humans. Humans are attracted to these creatures as selkies are extremely handsome\beautiful.

That's why Mother asked her son to wear the mask - to save him from those girls and boys who lack love and affection. And yes, mask did help. But who said OC wears it all the time when onshore? ^^

He is also - as every selkie - can use some weak yet handful magic. He can heal himself and his folk, can influence human's behavior or make someone forget about seeing him in a seal form.

OK... I'd better stop it or this can evolve into some kind of a fanfic x))
