Why the hell did the creators of the shiden put a airintake directly ontop of the plane!? That just cuts fuel flow to the enjine!

This is beautiful. I loved the Shinden II in Assault Horizon. This new girl does have a heck of a lot of moving parts, but that doesn't mean it isn't awesome. I made seven customs. They were the most colorful planes in the sky (I'm a brony). Also, the JSDF needs these. Now.

Not a fan of the Shinden II, but you've really made it shine here!

Great to know! because I dont like Shinden II either, my goal was to make it look more interesting for people like myself

that plane looks so realistic. had the background been refined more it would be almost like a picture.

One of the most Prettist Air Crafts in the game. I gotta say that.

Oh my god this is a fantastic painting. You put so much detail into this, it blows my mind. Just the attention to the lighting, the geometry, the planes (planes as in surfaces, not like airplanes lol)... everything is just perfect. Everything. This is beautiful. ;;

Damn that's amazing! I was hoping to see something soon. As always you never cease to amaze me. The name is freaking awesome too.
Just wondering but do you plan on doing any a-10 art?

Try the mission Zero Gravity in Ace Combat 3. It had realistic space physics on the ps1. Yes, the FIRST playstation was able to handle realistic zero-grav physics. Now just imagine what you could do today...

xD Not advanced enough. When we develop a fighter-sized SSTO system and then a way to power it, then it might be doable

This thing makes me wonder if it'd be a viable design in a near future fighter aircraft program.
Also, is it me or should this Shinden II have had internal weapon bays?

SuperArrow In reply to SSG-Scorps [2012-08-05 07:25:03 +0000 UTC]
It does have internal weapons bays. Four of them. Two in the front for AIM-9s, and then two in the back for LAGMs. At least in game.
It is a viable design. Only problem is that there are so many moving parts on this airframe, it's not even funny.

Oh, I didn't notice.
And yeah, the moving parts would give it quite a bit of trouble.

The tails move up and down, the wingtips fold down, the engines have 2-D thrust vectoring, not to mention it's a STOVL aircraft.

Correct me if it already exists, but someone should develop a Air Superiority Fighter based on:
1. VERY fast speed
2. Long range weapons and powerful radar
3. Stealth (including jamming)
Sort of like an interceptor that quickly attacks (most likely diving), then disappears, before the enemy can respond, thanks to it's amazing speed. Y/N?

SuperArrow In reply to Siiver7 [2012-09-15 05:25:20 +0000 UTC]
1. Very Fast Speed
The F-22, Typhoon, Gripen, Rafale, and Su-27 family series of aircraft are all Mach 2+ capable aircraft. There is really no need to for a Mach 2.5+ aircraft anymore, save for the interceptors. Fast aircraft require a lot of fuel, because no matter the engine, once you go into afterburner, you are devouring food like none other.
2. Long Range Weapons and powerful radar
There are already long range weapons. The AMRAAM, the soon to be fielded MBDA Meteor, and the Novator K-100 missile. Though the AMRAAM is a medium range missile, work is being done on a very long range variant. Again, these missiles would be huge due to the amount of fuel they'd need to carry.
Powerful radars are already in existence, such as the AESA radar used by the Raptor, Lightning II, and Super Hornet.
3. Stealth is not the way of the future. It is too expensive, and it's pointless to have stealth after the first couple weeks of the war. Too expensive to maintain, and very hard to replace. The work that an airplane needs to have after every mission to keep the surfaces clean would eat up money.
Attacks like that would be rare. It's about agile missiles mostly, and agile airplanes. After the initial launch of BVR missiles, it would be then a close range dogfight. Speed isn't everything. Look at the MiG-31 Foxhound, the airframe is reinforced heavily so that it can travel at high speeds at low level, but at the expense of maneuverability, the maximum G's that it is stressed to pull is only 5, while the Hornet is +9. Single role airplanes are becoming a thing of the past, it's about airplanes that can handle all sorts of missions.

What plane do you think is currently the best in our time now? Including it's cost effectiveness, and how easily it's manufactured and maintained.

SuperArrow In reply to Siiver7 [2012-09-20 13:44:55 +0000 UTC]
McDonnell Douglas (Now Boeing) F/A-18E/F Super Hornet. I consider that one the best because of the fact that it can do everything, from Air Superiority to Jamming (With the E/A-18G). If you look up the word Multirole in the dictionary, you'd more than likely see a photo of the F/A-18A/B/C/D and the E/F family.
I say this because the aircraft has been highly successful in any role that it is given. Not to mention it's a cheap enough airplane to maintain and fly.
