Lost again.I am drowning inside myself
while trying to maintain
a cool shell of strength
so that no one
will suspect
the truth
When alone I sit silent
in a frown
while my heart
plays the same staccato rhythm
that beats between headaches.
Every time I open my mouth to generate a word
it adds another resonant layer of dust
that I am damned to taste
until the truth is set free.
Banished by my own tongue
With no cavalry in the flank
Stomping my feet
and counting the echoes
that ring out
in the hollow
of my lies.
So I remain here
at the bottom of myself
dark and bleak
quiet and unforgiving
I still get to visit the surface
from time to time
at exhausting intervals
But until I am noticed in here
I will feed on my own guilt
for covering
hiding
biding my time
so that no one
will suspect
the truth.
