Description
Spectres are ghostly monsters fueled by their envy and hatred for the living. They are sensitive towards sunlight so they prefer to lurk inside dark environments or anywhere else during night, mainly cemeteries. Spectres are sometimes confused for ghosts but they can be distinguished by them easily, since spectres are generally evil while ghosts have no definitive alignment. Spectres cannot pass on to the afterlife, whether it's because they were buried at a crossroad or because of a curse they had while they were alive. Spectres are also created when a wraith slays a creature and is commanded by the wraith.Spectre hauntings can cause the area to be unnaturally cold, but in no harmful way. Any animals near a spectre haunting became filled with dread and suffered from uncontrollable fear when forced to go near a specter.
Their form of attack is draining your lifeforce, weakening your constitution until you drop dead. The drained lifeforce had an invigorating effect on specters, and when the spectre slays a creature (only in the case of a humanoid) turned into a new specter enslaved by its creator. As a general rule, they attacked their prey by moving through solid objects, including walls, ceilings, or even the ground. They were generally encountered in a groups of less than a dozen other specters or other undead.
Like most ghosts, spectres are vulnerable to radiant damage and attacks made from magical weapons and spells. Luring the spectre into sunlight or projecting magic sunlight can weaken the spectre and cause it to panic and attempt to flee, which leaves you an opening for you to beat the snot out of it or escape.
