Description
It's finally here! The basilisk is FINISHED. This is my first time painting a sculpture, and even though some things did not turn out the way I had pictured, I am very pleased with the result. I learned a lot that I am excited to use in my next sculpt! For those who are interested - he is made of wire, tinfoil, super sculpey, epoxy putty, and DAYS OF MY LIFE. I spent about 100 hours on the sculpt, and about 40 hours on the paint.
The beautiful case was not built by me.

Haha okay! Maybe one day when I get some money, I definitely will! Do you have commission information?

Not specific information. It's more of a you describe what you'd like and I give you a quote. I'm pretty flexible price wise as I haven't done a lot of commissions yet and I'm still feeling things out, as it were.

Okay well what is your range? Like you don't charge less than this amount, but won't charge more than this amount..? Aaah, I wish I were rich, I would get something this instant!

Well, it totally depends on the size of the sculpture. I really can't give you a range like that, because I will make whatever size you're willing to get. But for something like the Basilisk, it would be at least $500.00 just because it's so big. Something between 5 and 10 inches could be anywhere between $50 and $150 depending on the complexity. But like I said I'm flexible - I'm not really in it for the money (though it is nice) so much as I want to make cool stuff. Hope that helps!

In Harry Potter. In legends, it is said that Basilisks are berserk dragons that were born from a chiken egg sitted on by a toad. They would be impossible to stop and would destroy everything they find alive around them

How do you make the scales? I mean, they look so amazing. I wish I could make details like that.

Quantum-Kid In reply to Skulexander [2012-03-15 00:42:18 +0000 UTC]
I have a dental tool with the shape of the scale on one end. I press that tip into the sculpey to make the "space" between two scales (it's hard to describe). But yeah, I just keep doing that. I had to make 3 more tools to get into the tight places, all with the same shape as my dental tool. Details are pretty easy as long as you know how to make them. It's the patience that's usually the problem
