Description

Here's another fictional EMD unit. This time a hybrid of an SD and a GP unit; called a GD (General Duty). The GD5 is the first of the GD Series Diesel Locomotive. The prime mover of the GD5 is the same as one within a SD50, has the body of a GP30 with a larger rear radiator to keep it's prime mover cool during operation; and SD Trucks. The GD5 can work either shortline railroads or work for one of big railroads. The one weakness of the GD5 is that it has a small fuel tank due to the SD Trucks and it had to be compacted, this issue will be recified in the next GD Diesel.

The GD5 along with other GDs will exists within my New Age Alternate History working for various railroads and will be seen in various schemes
