Also known as the Mini Hatch or Mini One in other markets. The new Mini Cooper was made after BMW bought the Mini identity off of Rover. The initial concept was shown off at the 1997 Frankfurt Motorshow, when the Mini identity was still apart of the Rover group, but working with BMW.
This is the 1st Gen Mini Cooper (R50/52/53), that started production in September of 2000, and ended in August of 2006, with the exception to the convertible which ended production in 2008. The 1st Gen also had John Cooper Works (JCW) edition which was based from the Mini Cooper S.
