Description
HOO BOY I'm glad I managed to get something done for her before the group opens laksjdf The art isn't anywhere near where I want it to be, but I at least managed to do something animated for her, so I'll take what I can get.
[[GENERAL INFO]]Name:
Calliope Claura Clementine
Nickname(s):
Callie, Ms. Clementine, Merida, Carrot-Top, etc
Age: 30
Height: 5'3 1/2"/152.4cm
Birthday: December 20th
Alignment:
Neutral Good - Calliope understands that laws are important, and she follows them as best she can, but she has a desperate need to help people and if she has to break some laws or help people who would hurt her, she'll do it anyways. She wouldn't consider herself chaotic, because she's not actively opposing the law or trying to follow her own idea of justice, she just... helps people.
Personality:
+ Caring + / Empathetic / Optimistic / Forgiving / Naive / Self-Sacrificing
Calliope has an incredibly king soul. It's as though she was put on this planet to help others and do good and to try and lend a hand to those that need it, no matter how much or how little they need her help. Her Optimistic outlook on life can either be greatly appreciated or considered a strong nuisance, as she's always going on about how things will get better and that it's only a matter of time before things start to look up. She's an incredibly Caring soul, which is great if you need someone to go to for help with any sort of problems. Calliope is an Empathetic person, and feels the emotions of others very strongly (she's the sort of girl that will cry at every movie death or sad moment).
Calliope's kindness is a boon and a curse, and this is most shown in how Forgiving she is. There's no line that can be crossed, no damage too severe for her to give up on someone. This has caused her to get into some very bad relationships in the past that friends and family had to help her out of. Couple that with her Naive nature, and one would realize that she might not even notice that she's being wronged to begin with! She may have to do a lot of introspection and meditation if someone tells her that something is wrong or that she's been cheated in some way, because odds are high that she didn't notice it (and won't know if it's a big enough issue to do anything about).
Calliope has and always will put others before herself. She's Self-Sacrificing to a point of concerning those around her, as she puts more and more stress on herself to help people that may or may not appreciate it. She HAS to, though! They need her, and who is she to tell them no because of something as selfish as needing a break or some time for herself? She knows how hard life can be for the people around her, and she wants to alleviate their stress, even if it means burning herself out.
Likes/Dislikes:
Well-made food, especially fish - Callie was raised by a professional chef, and has learned how to cook exceptional meals from her mother. Because of this, she's gotten quite a refined taste for what's "good" and what isn't, and has a hard time enjoying food that isn't made to her standards. That's not saying she won't eat it and pretend she enjoys it, but it's pretty obvious to see when she likes something once you've seen her actually enjoy a meal.
Singing (especially Disney songs) - What a wonderful way to cheer up! She loves singing Disney songs and feels like a Disney princess herself when she sings them, which was always a tiny dream of hers. You can often hear her humming various toons to herself, and it'll make her week if someone joins in and sings the other half of a duet with her.
Magical Girl shows/anime - She LOVES magical girls! She's not a huge fan of the newer, nitty-gritty sad magical girls, but she'll eat up the cutesy happy hopeful shows of girls getting to be powerful and confident and wear cute outfits and AAAA!
Owls - There's something about owls that Callie finds beautiful and adorable at the same time. They can be sleek or puffy, and she'll watch cute owl videos whenever she sees them, and has various bits of clothing and jewelry with owls.
BABIES (which includes anything ages 0-10) - Callie always wanted to be a mom, and will be MORE than happy to babysit for people. The younger the child, the more she can coddle them and not feel bad about it, but she'll be more than happy to sneak desserts to children of all ages and sing lullabies or tell bedtime stories or help them draw or anything they want to do! She's a pushover to kids (and adults, but especially kids).
Avocado - She's mildly allergic, and on top of that, she doesn't like the taste or the texture. It's an all around bad thing in her opinion!
Jokes about her hair - Yes, she knows she looks like Merida. Yes, she knows she's two more inches of hair away from looking like Cousin It when her curls get wet. No, you're not being funny or creative.
Cat-Calling or crude Flirting - Calliope is a very self conscious girl, and can be very easily distressed by intense flirting. She usually can take flirting as a form of flattery, but if someone's a little too graphic about it or comes off as aggressive, she'll pretty easily go into a panic and try to leave.
Letting People Down - As much as Calliope wants to help people, it's often for her to push herself too far and offer to help people when she really can't afford to. This really depresses her, especially when someone was actually relying on her and not letting someone down for something trivial.
Being Yelled At - This is, hands down, the easiest way to make her cry. If you want Callie to cry, just yell at her. Doesn't even matter if it's for a valid reason or not, or even directed at her. Just yell in her face and she'll weep and apologize and possibly brace herself for an impact that'll never come.
History:
Calliope, all things considered, had a very easy childhood growing up in Northridge. Born as the second of two to a fairly famous chef (who'd been on a food channel show once) and a carpenter, Calliope was praised and doted on her whole life by parents who believed she could do anything she set her mind to. Her older sister, Summer, was just as loved and cherished, and the two siblings grew up fairly close to each other, up until Summer hit the teenage years and started dating around. Calliope couldn't blame her for leaving her behind, and instead focused on the few friends she had through her high school years, while trying to get to know the various men and women Summer brought into their lives. High school was mostly uneventful, with very little that happened to her in general. The worst thing she can recall was her friend getting beaten up for no reason, and being rejected to prom one year after mustering the courage to ask someone who'd already made plans without her knowing. Even at the time, Callie considered herself pretty blessed.
Things took a downhill turn once Calliope graduated high school, and went to the next town over to earn a BSN degree at WSUK. While the classes were stressful, they weren't anything Calliope couldn't manage. She would have gotten her degree with no problems and commendable grades, had her father not seriously injured himself on the job. With her mom having to travel for her job, and her sister being a fairly popular musician needing to tour for a living, Calliope took it upon herself to put her dreams on hold and take care of her dad. She moved back to Northridge, and took up a part time job at a cafe close to home so she could get to and from work quickly.
One day, she told herself, she would get to go back to her dream! She'd get to go to WSUK again, finish getting her degree, and be able to help people the way she always wanted to. One or two years of helping her mom save up before retiring wouldn't hurt, right?
Except it wasn't one or two years.
Things kept happening in the family, some big things and some small things, but the one constant was that Calliope was needed at home. Her father's health deteriorated over the years, and the family couldn't afford to hire a housekeeper for him. With no one liking the idea of sending him to a home, it fell on Calliope to take care of family and stay there to help whenever her mother was gone, which was often. That's what you're supposed to do, right? She tried dating around a few times, thinking that maybe she could try and find a nice husband and settle down while still getting to help her father, but a string of abusive relationships later proved that those dreams weren't happening any time soon either.
It's been ten years since Calliope really got to live for herself, and she's starting to think that this is just the way her life is meant to be...
Other:
Calliope works at a cafe alongside Charles Chante, and Theodore Thorne. She considers them to be some of her only friends at this point, alongside Miguel, one of Theo's friends and a high school sweetheart of her sister's from way back in the day.
Calliope doesn't actually know how to dance, but she would LOVE to learn! She just doesn't have much time for it...
Despite knowing better, Calliope believes that there's still hope for her father to get better. He hit his head pretty badly and never fully recovered himself, but lately his health has been deteriorating in other ways...
Calliope believes she's old enough at this point that no one would ever want to get into a relationship with her. It's stupid, but the media has her thinking that she's too old for love anymore, and some of her past lovers didn't help her self esteem in this regard either.
Along with the above, Calliope's got some very interesting stories regarding past lovers that might help people to understand the way she thinks of herself a little better. They're not fun stories.
Calliope's never really thought about it before, but she definitely qualifies as a demiromantic demisexual. She could potentially love anybody, but she needs a strong connection before she'll find herself attracted to them, and needs that bond to grow before she could consider being affectionate.
[[BATTLE INFO]]
Rank:
Amateur
Total HP:
7HP + 0
Dice:
1D30 + 0
ABILITY1:
Induced Healing
PERK:
Healing - Users with any of the following abilities can recover an ally/their own HP based on what their level is. A rookie can heal one HP per battle, a novice can heal 3HP per battle, etc. A Hero can heal 6HP per battle instead of five. Can only heal 1HP per turn, and only one target per turn if the healing ability can be used on other targets. Cannot bring someone back from the dead.
Calliope can, in theory, heal multiple people at once as long as she's able to touch both people. This really only works in non-combat situations and isn't as reliable as her putting all of her attention on one person.
There's literally no offensive capabilities with this power. She can't attack at all.
Calliope isn't able to heal herself at all, because she has Induced Healing. Once she gets hurt, she'll either need to rely on another Weirdo with induced healing, or hope that her wounds can be fixed with normal medicine and surgeries.
Healing people can pretty quickly tire her out, and it doesn't take long before she'll be fatigued to a point where she can't stand or see straight if she pushes herself too hard.
ABILITY2:
Enhanced Visibility
PERK:
Silver-Tongue: Users with any of the following abilities have no boost in combat, but can attempt to end combat with other Weirdos (or sometimes Normies, or outside forces) by using their power. The user must roll a D4 every turn, and if they roll a 1, they can subdue the opponent temporarily. This doesn’t meant that the opponent won’t start attacking again, but it buys some time to try and talk them down. On the flip side, they can also convince other things to attack, or change their overall emotion, using the same dice roll as before.
It's a lot easier to get people to believe what she has to say, or at least listen to her, when you have a hard time looking away.
Good god, everyone's always looking at her, they won't look away, why won't they look away- (this power can't be turned off. It's constantly on and there's nothing she can do about it).
While this power can attract some necessary attention, it also draws in the eyes of very... very... unsavory people.
Callie has literally NO ability to sneak anywhere anymore. If there's anyone that CAN see her, they WILL see her, even if she tries to disguise herself.
ABILITY3: --
PERK: --
Strengths and Weaknesses:
Calliope can be an easily approachable person (especially with her Enhanced Visibility), which means it's easy to get people to go to her if they need help. This could be highly beneficial for diverting innocent civilians away from battlegrounds.
Calliope will always throw herself into a situation if she thinks people need help. Take this as a positive or a negative, but she won't just stand by and watch if she has ANY notion that she could actually help.
While she wouldn't appreciate it, Calliope can be a leader as much as she can be a follower. She's ready and willing to take orders, or give them if she has to.
Calliope is a PACIFIST. She will never condone violence and will actively try to convince people to not hurt those that are trying to hurt them, to "be the better person". She'd rather die than hurt someone.
Because she has no offensive skills whatsoever, it's easy to imagine how some people wouldn't exactly think she's up to the task of leading a bunch of Weirdos.
Because of Calliope's Enhanced Visibility, trying to meet people in private is almost impossible, and extra care will need to be taken to make sure she doesn't accidentally out other weirdos by being around them too much.

I love her she's so precious
Charlie can teach her how to dance. He doesn't look it but he picked up a lot of high class social skills at Harvard.

Thank you she needs love
Oh man she would love that! The real trick is figuring out how that conversation would come up and to get him some gloves so he doesn't kill her while they're having fun-

She's lovely
Charlie is heading back into the kitchen with an empty tray while she's coming out of the kitchen and they do that awkward thing where they try to get around each other and both dodge the same way and finally Charlie laughs and says "Shall we dance?" And it breaks the tension but then Calle is like but wait really.
Charlie tells her he's wearing gloves because he's mysophobic which makes him embarrassed but he doesn't want to tell people about his power.
