Description
[lore] A sketch for the armor design for the legionnaires of the Solar Order, the military forces of the Lunar Order. Recovering from a war 12 years before, the Lunar Order has lost a chunk of its population, its extended royal family, and entire cities in the battle against the invasion force of Corruption, a battle they were woefully unprepared for. Looking to bring the fight back to Earth, they have modernized, becoming the most advanced military in the system and recruiting all who wish to fight back and take vengeance against their enemies who are now recovering to try again and take out their old enemy for good.[design] It has taken a while to get these guy's design right, I have one unposted picture for the previous armor design that I made to gain a starting point, but it didn't feel finished, and it was also made on my phone while on an extended train ride. Throughout the group of friends I'm with, the general consensus was that we wanted Clone Troopers + Spartans for the armor, but making something that was both new and brought the same feeling was difficult. I didn't want them to look like dorks (which is what I noticed sadly for a lot of designs for various space marine armors on Pinterest and such), but instead advanced soldier badasses that would make 8 year old boys look at them with awe (see Clone Wars inspiration?) and allow anyone to step into the armor to join the legions.
The most important thing I absolutely needed to get right was the Helmet. If it wasn't good, it was garbage, after many Star Wars and Halo helmets analyzed, I found a general shape (flat top, flared bottom). But it needed something neat and original for the Visor, Halo goes in the direction of a wide shiny golden visor for most of them, and Star Wars goes for thinner T-shaped black visors. If I chose either of them it might look a bit derivative and obvious, then I saw many non-pop culture designs that incorporated this VR-Headset front visor and I thought it would be neat to have, something that can be raised for the soldier's freedom of vision and be used for targeting systems and stuff, awesome. But then the problem came that with this VR headset on the front of their eyes, there was nothing to bring attention to their face, but luckily, my sketch layer brought the solution, a + shape from my head I sketched underneath it showed through and so I just added a line for the visor, and it improved it immensely. The flared bottom was something else that was quick to implement, but for the face below the visor was another issue, but luckily, it took little to overcome as just a few lines for the close-face variant proved good enough and looked cool.
I then got into the armor, I hated to see overly complex designs so I turned it back as much as possible, one or two general colors was the peak I was wishing for. And after about an hour or two for this image, I got it just right. Black undersuit and exposed armor plating were key to make it work, as much as cloth worked in designs like Halo's marines or real life soldiers, they made things a bit annoying to work with and muddied up things like the sleek design of armor the Clones had. I removed as much detail as possible on the arms and legs to allow the helmet to pop out more and make it easier to recreate the soldiers in the future for use in whole armies and units (since these guys are not going to be main characters). I also needed to make it simple for the future implementation of color designations and variants.
There are probably a few little things I will tweak around, but the form and function of the armor base is there, and now I can do much more fun things with it like make variants for camouflage, terrain, ranks, specialists, and color designations in the future.

[small note]
I've been in the weeds of work for school and have been waking up early every day for the past year to do so, but with more time to sleep and a big load of working going off my shoulders soon, I should have more time to draw and add more to my DeviantArt page for you guys to stare at and then forget about 12 seconds later or look at for the next 10 minutes straight
