"Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you tonight's production of 'A Sweet Soirée'."

A small group of Pokémon was lined up at centre-stage, each performing a dance they had altogether practiced once. Yet despite the unfamiliarity, each creature was doing remarkably well. Four Trainers, one to each Pokémon, were each huddled in a small booth, watching their Pokémon intently.

Suddenly, the spotlight shone on a Petilil at the end of the row as one of her short arms twirled her Purse. Bianca thought she was the only one to notice this, but she waited a second or two before reacting. Meanwhile, her Pignite kept looking at the camera that he knew broadcasted their show to the Trainers backstage, trying to tell his Trainer that he should be doing something.

The Pokémon-Trainer team made their move: tapping her earpiece, the blonde quickly gave the message to "Go!" Reacting accordingly, the Fire Pig tapped his Pocket Watch, making its hands spin and shine. He made big enough motions with it that the farthest audience member could see it, but small enough that it didn't look like he was fishing for attention.

The subtlety of the motion worked; the spotlight switched over to him, and the audience began to clap. Their competitors were slow to react, and the next Pokémon didn't try to overshadow the Pignite until his spotlight had been turned off.

"You're doing great, Blackie," Bianca encouraged. Her companion couldn't reply directly, but he gave a small nod to the camera.

Soon came the partner dance section of the musical. Blackie was paired up with the Audino next to him, and she looked quite lovely indeed. With a Snow Crystal on one ear and a Lonely Flower in her paw, she was displaying rather well the image of a fragile, lonely female protagonist, searching for love. Blackie, with his Scarlet Cape, White Domino Mask, and Black Tie, played the role of the anti-villain and love interest, which he seemed equally suited for. His short arms spun her around a few timed before they took paws and jumped together. The Audino then threw her flower out into the audience, bringing the spotlight to focus on her, and made the motion of kissing her partner on the cheek. Though one couldn't see his eyes, the Pignite grinned broadly, and repeated the motion to his associate, making her and Bianca giggle.

The solo dancers on each side of the stage started flipping in the air, the cue for the happy couple to part ways. Blackie couldn't let his other go without one more spin. Clearly surprised by the impromptu sway, the Audino nearly dropped her Candy, managed to catch it in her paw. With a final paw-holding, the "lovers" broke a part; the Hearing Pokémon blew the Fire Pig a kiss, which he pretended to catch in midair.

Now would be the perfect time to steal the spotlight once again – both Bianca and her Pokémon knew this – but neither moved. Instead, they watched amusedly as the Pokémon with remaining Props in their hands fought for the spotlight. They knew exactly when the right time to act would be.

The lights went out onstage for a moment, and during that time, the performers created a neat, single-file line by the edge of the stage. When the stage was illuminated again, Blackie jumped into the air higher than the rest, flipped once, and threw his Top Hat into the audience. As the curtain fell, the attention was still on him, and the audience made a considerable racket as he stole an extra bow just before the drapes blocked him from their view.

Smiling merrily, the blonde removed her earpiece and left the booth. The other Trainers were beginning to emerge, too, and they formed a procession toward the wings. The girl nearly lost her giant green hat as she ran to greet her little star. Blackie was just removing his props when he heard her footsteps, and he turned around just in time to get swept into the air by Bianca loving hug.

"That was amazing!" she told him. "You did so well! I'm so proud of you!" The Pignite cried his approval and tapped his nose against hers. She set him back on the ground. "Come on; let's get all these Props off of you."

Sitting herself down, she helped him untie his cape and remove his mask. A Prop collector came backstage and handed Props that had been thrown offstage back to their possessors. In a mix-up, Blackie ended up holding the Audino's Lonely Flower. "Better go give that back to her," his Trainer teased with a giggle. Putting his mask back on, he took a deep breath and strode over to the pink Pokémon, who accepted her Prop with elegance. The Pignite fled the scene before any sort of conversation could initiate between them.

"I think someone's got a crush," Bianca ribbed in a sang-song voice; her Pokémon suddenly became interested in the stationary hours' hand of his Pocket Watch. "It's alright," she consoled: "I won't tell her." He looked up at her with a grin, and cried his name in thanks.

"And who knows?" the blonde continued. "Maybe next time we come, she'll be back, too."

8. Companion

"Charlie? Charlie! Charlie, what are you doing?!"

The Maine Coon brought his head up from the open can of tomato paste he'd found on the counter. His proprietor had carelessly left it unattended as he'd gone to answer the telephone, and now there wasn't going to be any left for the pasta he'd had almost ready for dinner unless he went out to the greengrocer's right away.

"Shoo, cat!" he bellowed, sweeping his big hand behind the troublemaker to encourage his departure. With an unhappy yowl, the cat obliged, landing neatly on his paws and strutting away from the kitchen with an air of superiority.

"My name is not 'Cat'," he called over his shoulder, knowing very well that the man couldn't understand him. "My name is Rum Tum Tugger! And you should be grateful! That tomato paste could have been spoiled, or pois—"

He stopped mewling just in time to run out of the path of the now-empty tomato can, but he couldn't outrun the water droplets projected from the landing. Screeching in disgust, he ran up the stairs and placed himself on the middle step, out of sight of his owner, and proceeded to clean himself up.

A door opened at the top on the flight, and a young girl of six and three-quarters (give or take a month) appeared in the doorframe. "What was that noise, Daddy?" she asked, just peeking around the corner to identify the one she was speaking to.

"The cat's being a twit again," her father complained. "Dinner will have to wait a while longer; could you go tell Mum that?"

"Uh-huh!" The girl's voice echoed slightly with a musical tone, and her footsteps were heard striding down the hallway. With a quick knocking sequence and the squeak of a door being opened, she informed her mother of their situation with dinner; no response was heard, but the girl seemed satisfied, as she closed the door back up and started down the stairs.

She spotted the cat lying there and gasped with delight. "Hi, Kitty!" she called, quickening her pace down the steps. The cat made a neutral noise and resumed his bath. Unaffected by the cat's lack of response, the girl sat down right next to him and started petting his fur. "Daddy says you've been a naughty cat, you have. Are you a naughty cat?"

Tugger continued to seem displeased by the girl speaking to him, but he murmured under his breath, "I've told you guys before, my name's Rum Tum Tugger: not 'Kitty', not 'Cat'. And no, the name can't be shortened, either. Call me the Rum Tum Tugger or nothing at all."

The girl giggled and, seeming to take his response as a request, wrapped her arms around his ribcage and pulled him onto her lap. The Maine Coon meowed in surprise at the suddenness of the motion, and squirmed a little, but once she had resumed her petting, he calmed down.

"Well, I think you're a good cat. You're the best cat, Charlie!"

Basking in his compliments, he didn't even feel like responding, or even complaining about his name. For now, he'd just stay where he was and focus on his bubbly buddy and the rhythm of her petting.

Life was pretty good.

9. Move

You don't keep Jade Harley waiting when she wants to do something with you. Because if you do, she'll find a way to remove the blockage between her and you being with her.

A certain Dave Strider discovered this the hard way.

After having gone through more dreambubbles than he's ever needed to be exposed to in his life, he was pretty happy to see people other than the trolls and Rose that weren't dead or figments of his imagination. He'd especially liked the bro embrace and fistbump that John seemed to have been storing up for their reunion, and he had to give props to the flying tacklehug Jade had given him that had sent the both of them crashing back onto the meteor. He loved seeing his friends again.

But right now, he just needed to sleep. Too many dreambubbles, clown hunts, and screaming wannabe-leaders had kept him awake far too long. He knew (or claimed to know) exactly how much time he could have spent sleeping that was sacrificed for something else, and he wanted to regain those lost hours.

But Jade wanted him to show her around the meteor. The problem is that even though Striders often have trouble getting to sleep, once they have nodded off they can sleep through SBURB entries. Normally she would have just let him sleep, but she wanted him awake now

"Dave," she called softly, poking her head into his room. There he was, facedown on the pile of cushions he'd fashioned into a bed, a mess of limbs and loose fabric and lacy pillows. With a small noise she pushed the door open further and stepped inside. "Dave," she tried again, louder this time as she got closer to him. He didn't move or even suggest he'd heard. She was next to him now, and she brushed his cape and hair aside so she could see his ear. "Dave, wake up," she whisper-shouted. Still no response.

Now, Jade knew a thing or two about deep sleeping. She was guilty herself of falling into comatose-like slumber a handful of times while traveling through the Yellow Yard, as well as on her island a few more times than that. Because of her experiences, she knew exactly what Dave needed to wake up.

Rolling him over slightly, she raised her free hand; just hard enough to be able to sting, she brought it down on the sleeping Strider's cheek. Wasn't quite a robo-slap, but would probably work.

Probably.

Likely.

Possibly?

Nope. Nothing.

The Witch of Space sat, her back facing Dave. After a few seconds, the turned back around and started shaking his prone body. "DAVE! WAKE UP! DAVE!! GET UP!!!" His head flopped limply back, and she set him back onto the pillows. She growled in frustration and just sat where she was, staring angrily at nothing in particular.

She was so intent on her glaring that she didn't even notice when Dave moved.

He was still asleep, but he had rolled over onto her lap, and had wrapped himself around her middle. His grip wasn't strong, particularly because they weighed so little, but he was definitely holding onto her.

Jade smiled to herself and bent her torso in order to pick him up. It was surprisingly difficult to pry his arms and legs off of her, given how thin his limbs were, but within that minute she was upright on her legs, holding onto Dave by the middle of his back and the bends of his knees. Likely guided by the sound of a heartbeat close by, the Knight of Time leaned his head into the Witch of Space's chest.

Humming to herself, she strolled out of the room. Perhaps Dave would show her around when he awoke; they could start wherever she would happen to wander.

Oh, really? The first? Huh! Musicals are incredibly interesting to me, though, and I'm glad I could do it justice.
Hehe, thank you!

Hehe, on my Black Nuzlocke file, I wasted HOURS in the Musical Hall when I could have been grinding. It got especially bad when I was supposed to be training for the E4...

I think to think I'm pretty good, yes. My Dewott and Chanelure were the best for musicals, namely because they were the only ones of my team at the time with arms to put Props into.

The rest of my team consisted of Unfeazent, Stoutland, Liepard, and Swoobat, so they were kind of hooped in therms of Musical performance.

I thought all the pokemon could enter the musical

They can, but only Pokemon with arms can use any Props to gain attention. If you enter, say, a Liepard, you can still enter him and dress him up with bowties and hats and what-have-you, but you won't get much attention because he's quadrupedal and can't hold anything.

Yeah, it's completely unfair. Hence why I prefer Super Contests: everyone gets the chance to shine, whether they have two, four, or no legs!

She totally would! I don't really think battling is her thing, but she's defenitely great with Pokemon, so Contests and Musicals would be her thing for sure!
