Nice composition and moment captured. The focus point looks like it hit the model's neck so her neck and the shadow there are extremely sharp while her face and eyes are not. It really draws my eye away from her peaceful expression to just staring at her neck and the sand there. The white spot near the dark shadow doesn't help.

It was probably hard for you to nail the right point because you were nearly wide open...is the lens an f/1.8?

I completely agree on this one. I loved the composition and her expression, but the focus is WAY off, and I just couldn't trash it despite that. It's a 50mm 2.0 lens, so it was wide open for this one, it can be difficult to grab an in-focus portrait shot when the model's moving quite a bit!

Yes...I learned that after reviewing some film prints today (half of which were destroyed because I derp-ed and opened the back before winding the roll - didn't know that factoid). Also, maybe a regular person wouldn't even recognize this. Black and white could possibly make it less apparent.

Oh no! Some 35mm film cameras wind it up automatically after you finish a roll, sounds like yours wasn't one of them! I've definitely hit the wrong button and popped open the camera back instead of the battery compartment before though, mistakes happen!
