No phone.  No one familiar nearby.  No one to even know, really, should something occur here.
There it was again!  That sound.  That scratching sound.  On the other side of my door.  Panic sets in.  My heart's fear is consuming.  What was that?
I go to the door.  Hand on the bolt.  My eyes dart about frantically.  I kneel down, my long, blonde hair sweeps the floor as I peer under it.  No one there.  Nothing there.
I call out my girlfriend's name.  Perhaps it is just her.  There is no answer.  There is nothing.
I am afraid.  So afraid.  The fear has taken over.
Flight plan.  I open the window which leads out onto the roof, San Fransisco beyond.  If something comes through that door.... Run!  Run to the fire escape.
More sounds.  More noises.  A presence is there.  I'm sure of it now.
No sleep the remainder of the night.  Fear.  Only fear.
I hear something else.  -Step.  Drag...  Step.  Drag...  Step.  Drag...-  Panic.  Panic!
But it has gone.  I think...  Not the panic.
Morning.  A note.  Only a note as evidence.  Evidence I am not a schizophrenic lunatic.  Mad, nonsensical ramblings on paper.  Bad things.  Dirty things.  Ugly things.
Confusion and loss.  Loss of cool.  Loss of safety.
A stalker?  A vagrant?  A madman?
