Description
I want to writeI want to embody you in a poem.
I want to metaphorically encapsulate
the flawless taste of your skin.
But lately,
Lately all I've been able to write
are to-do lists.
I wish I could personify your mouth
the way it parts with a gentle inhale
just before you speak.
I find pieces of you in my words
in the curves of my letters
in the thick, steady lines
in every undotted i
in the space where printing ends
and cursive begins.
I find poetry in the cracks in your hands.
Your soft swoons are like songs to me.
your jawline
your torso
the hair on your chest
they live in a museum in my mind.
Maybe that's why I can't write a work of art about you:
You are one.

Thanks! I had a lot of fun writing it. It's funny how something like this can stem from mindless ranting writing.
