Description This is what's called a stereoscopic picture. You view it cross-eyed and it looks 3d. It's just the amazing power of the human brain. Read this article about viewing stereoscopic pictures . I think I may run a contest over at *macrophoto on stereoscopic pics. We'll have to see.

hehe, I'm one of those lucky people that can cross-eye at will
use to freak out my friends with my half-cross-eye (one eye crossed, other one normal)

It was way too much fun when I figured out how to do this. The wierdest thing was taking pictures of myself. It's freaky to see yourself in 3D.

Sweet idea.. I was just thinking today how a lot of photos I've composed in my head don't look nearly as cool in real life because they don't have depth. So maybe a cool project would be to shoot a set of pictures in appropriately skewed perspective, print them on acetate, then view them in something like a viewmaseter (that old orange slide viewer that told disney stories).

You've inspired me

well i'm glad i have inspired you. it's really a cool technique to play around with. adding actual physical depth to photos is something that is looked over too often.
