Thank you, I really appreciate it.
Things finally came together so well that day, and as difficult as this was to find, I considered myself very lucky.

Why thank you, I was very fortunate to come upon this scene, especially with it being the result of me pretty much getting myself lost.

this photo is soo cool ... it's frightening and incredible in the same time too bad you didn't catch a spider wandering around! nice work!

Thank you very much . Most of the webs were vacant that morning. It was not only very damp and barely above freezing, but it's very possible the spiders had been killed off by a previous frost.
The ones that were still "hangin" in there were huge though!

Hmm, you're the 2nd person to mention the Halloween thing. I see it, but I figure I'll probably never feel it. It'll always represent the glory of a cold Fall morning to me... the last one of its kind before the freeze. And if I were to associate an event, it'd be when I used to go hunting with my dad.
As for the spiders, they were those huge black white and yellow Argiopes (I always knew them as garden spiders). I ran into (sometimes literally) several of them, as the corn fields I had to navigate through were covered with them. The ones that hadn't sought shelter from the near-frozen dew were so sluggish you could touch them and they'd barely move.
I originally set out that morning to find frosty webs and maybe even frost flowers [link] . I'll always appreciate this series more than most because of how hard I had to work for it (traversing a neverending cold muddy hell), and it's always nice when others find beauty in it as well.
Yeah, as much as I'd like to claim credit for the watermark, I borrowed the idea from mym8rick. Here's I'm talking about: [link]

I just spent the past 10 minutes looking at pictures of spiders after looking those up on wikipedia. I'm fascinated by spiders, but they still creep me out.

How fortunate to find this in just the right lighting. It's gorgeous. I like the layers and depth to the image, especially where the webs overlap. The orange and black is fitting for a very 'Halloween' type image. The most interesting part I think, is that I can't find a spider. Where are all the spiders?
As a side note, your watermark is probably the cleanest, least annoying I have ever seen. It doesn't detract from the image in the slightest. That in itself is a miracle.

Wow - is this for real? I love the vibe - the halloweenish colours, but it gives off a nice warm "autumn rain against my window, sippin' a hot cup of tea" feeling, that contrast is great. Amazing shot!

The only thing I changed was contrast, which affects saturation, so it's about as real as it gets .
And I love the way you describe the mood this puts you in.
Thanks so much for the input .

And if you'd like to know the story of how I got the image, I wrote a journal about that morning. [link]
It may alter the mood, as the realities behind photographs often are much different than the end result. My mood when I view this is much different than what I felt when I was trying to take the picture .
Thanks again .

Thanks, though lot of it was luck. I came upon perfect webs just as the sun was rising over the mist.
To think I had been cursing them only minutes before as I made my way through muddy corn rows...

The color! The contrast! The light! I love it!
It's cool how the dawn light throws the background into a nearly sepia tone. Muy cool.
Why do you always capture things that creep me out in such a way that they look beautiful???
I had a few thoughts:
"Ack! Aragog! Ack, creepy spider things from The Hobbit and LOTR: ROTK!"
and
The webs make me think of a group of schoolkids walking together with their umbrellas open.

Thank you muy mucho!
Yeah, the light was amazing. I didn't adjust the hue/color at all on any of these sunrise shots, just the lightness/darkness curve and saturation. The extra warm sepia effect was all natural, I just emphasized it a bit.
As far as making you think of this stuff as beautiful: I suppose I'm just trying to be understood. This is how I see my world.
Ha, I always enjoy the randomness of some of your interp's. I can totally see the umbrellas...

Well... I still see "ducks" when I look at two-story houses... I see funny shapes everywhere.
I see whimsical shapes, you see understated or misunderstood beauty.
