Description
It's a little cold outside todayThe snow falls endlessly down, lacing the air with streaks of pure light
I guess I stick out too much then
Despite how hard I try
You just can't turn black into white
Days like this are supposed to be happy, joyful
Not for me
I stay inside, bundled up, afraid to let the cold touch my heart
Scared that I'll be swept up in an endless maelstrom
But there are those who try
They did it once, and made it
Each entering the storm separately and yet
Coming together as one
As sure as they breathed
For none can brave the winds alone
And they danced, how they danced!
Among the snow, among the light
They weaved and spun through thin air
Never faltering, never falling
Finding themselves in the chaos
They called to me a few times
Asking me to join them
But what could I say?
I was a coward
And always will be
The light they danced in blinds me
The winds they rode pushes me
The snow they loved engulfs me
How could I tell them?
That I was just too afraid to make the jump?
So I stay in here
Knowing that I will never be swept away
Or be powerless against a storm
A sheltered existence
Living a lie
Seeing them dance and seeing them twirl
Among the beauty and the snow
Never minding the cold
Makes my own heart skip a beat
Not that I'd admit it
In the shadows I wonder
What would life be in the light?
If the light enfolded me
And the winds guided me
Would I be brave enough?
To trust the maelstrom
To close my eyes and fly
To put my heart on the line
Would I be brave enough…
To jump?
