Tho I'm not a fan of Ferrari's at all, this is a really nice render.

Model looks spot on and image is clear and nice to look at.

thanks, at the time, I loved these soft shadows that I had used in the scene, now days I really cant stand it anymore, if you look at my more current renders, the shadows that are casted are a bit different, anyway um could you render out this car for me? seeing your viper render, it really wow'd me, I was wondering if I could send you this model in either .obj, .wrl, or .fbx format? that is if you have the time. And i'm not asking for a quick render either(aka adding colors, a few lights and render, done.) I'm asking for a quality render that would do yourself justice as well, anyway later.

lst In reply to ragingpixels [2007-01-06 22:40:52 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I'll give it a go if you like.

I'll put it into the same basic scene and obviously adjust it to suit your model if you like.

*.obj would be the best way to get it into LW for me I think..

ragingpixels In reply to lst [2007-01-07 17:19:16 +0000 UTC]

ok, i'll send it to your gmail email on your front page, i'll send it in 3 different files formats, obj, wrl, and fbx, um could you first try to import the .fbx and .wrl first to see if they work, mainly because these formats might have the meshed grouped when imported into LW rather than the .obj, but what do I know, im not an LW user. anyway later check it soon. and nice renders! so I take it you never thought about the white poly render before? usually most people think of it when going to a photo shoot or some sort of auto show.

lst In reply to ragingpixels [2007-01-07 21:48:32 +0000 UTC]

I'd tryed little polys before for some reason never thought about a huge one..

any way.. thanks so much for the advice it helped alot.

thanks, i like your stuff too, but its not overly impressive yet to really +fav, but who knows, maybe later you'll catch my interests as well. if you ever get into making 3d cars and decide to use a program called cinema 4d, hit me up.

obefiend [2006-02-19 16:35:34 +0000 UTC]

may i know how long it took you to render and model this piece? the details are insane

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ragingpixels In reply to obefiend [2006-02-19 19:43:34 +0000 UTC]

let see, making it took between 16-20 hours total, did it all in 2 days., um rendering, well i have been rendering this thing for a while now, but if you are asking how long did this particular render take, it took 16 minutes on a P3 1.36GHz processor with 256MB SDRAM.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

obefiend In reply to ragingpixels [2006-02-20 01:37:44 +0000 UTC]

commendable time for an old rig! but as they say.. its the talent and skill that matters. not the rig... 20 hours you say. thats pretty quick!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ragingpixels In reply to obefiend [2006-02-20 03:18:33 +0000 UTC]

yeah, it has no interior, thats pretty much why its 20 hours, if it did have interior, maybe around 28 hours or so. but i looked at the enzo's interior and pretty much freaked out so i didnt make it.

later, oh and how did you stumble on my page anyway? or image rather?, just curious, im glad you dropped by thanks!

0STRAHD0 In reply to ragingpixels [2006-02-19 18:17:42 +0000 UTC]

Looked at the other pics. Back looks good to me, but I dont have any reference photos off had to compare to. The red is definatly the best color, orange was nice but the blue just dosent look good on a ferrari.

Found ur page while I was just browsing the 3d car pages.(I think)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ragingpixels In reply to 0STRAHD0 [2006-02-19 19:38:28 +0000 UTC]

The car is off though, because I like making it my own, in a sense, by not making it 100% accurate, hense, bodykitting.

kensei99 [2006-02-18 12:49:39 +0000 UTC]

Very nice one! great model. But if I can criticize a little:
You should use hdri environment, and put a little bit more of thickness on doors.
And I think light is too powerfull on the top of the car, it kills the detail that's too bad.
But that's a very great model.
Good ^^

ragingpixels In reply to kensei99 [2006-02-18 13:06:53 +0000 UTC]

HDR, no way, not on this old ancient computer, not gonna happen. anyway the light is rather dark actually, I just have a high, and ultra high specular setting, but if i lower it, the color shifts and looks really clay-ish, My forte is modeling, not rendering or anything else, well check out that car tut link that i gave you on your submission. make sure you read the whole journal as to not get lost or confused when watching. later.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kensei99 In reply to ragingpixels [2006-02-18 14:19:30 +0000 UTC]

too bad for the hdr it might change many thing & it would become much more real. High specularity gives a plastic feeling but in a certain way it doesn't matter because modeling is really perfect. Thx for the tut I check it I ve got the 9th V.But I just started 3D for few month
I'am a beginner

ragingpixels In reply to kensei99 [2006-02-18 16:42:08 +0000 UTC]

dont worry, if i managed to teach a newbie of 3 weeks( about 90 hours total with c4d) to make this car and some more as we speak, im sure it wont be that hard for you, its just that you have to be able to use what you learned and finish the rest, just dont over think what you have to make and simplify it down to just a few points and polygons. later.

also just to make it a bit more different, there is an extra cut/seam between the back bumper and the door.
