I've never spoken much about a plot for Surasshu, even though I was at one point writing it as a story. So why don't we get a bit into that now, shall we? There would have been 2 seasons, the majority of things happening in the second season, and the first being more of a setup to what's going on. Obviously Surasshu is the main rider, however the majority of the story has him as things that aren't Surasshu. For example, in the first episode he would've had a prototype suit, and in the finale of S1, he was a different rider. His regular Surasshu knife would have been destroyed, and in the second season his feelings of hatred would create the Vile Knife, so that would become his base form. This would also turn him into a kaijin eventually, so you have that. But right now we got Download, so we'll talk more about him.
Download would've appeared halfway through S1, and was an antagonistic character at first, working for the main villain, alongside Electro Serpent. Just being introduced, you'd think he'd be more powerful than Surasshu, so there'd be something to overcome. Instead Surasshu makes easy work of him, but then the pilot of the Download system tailed Surasshu back to main base, and stole the Flame and Wind knife switches that Surasshu had regained from fighting kaijin. That's how Download is able to access those modes. Electro Serpent starts causing trouble, so Surasshu comes to fight him, however Electro Serpent has the ability to absorb electricity and use it to power up, so he drained all the energy from Surasshu, making Surasshu practically useless, and Electro Serpent now enters a "hyper mode" from all the energy. Download sees this, and begins to have a change of heart, because he used to be a rider for the money, but now he wants to help people instead, so he kicks Electro Serpent's ass, and gains the Electro Switch. This would then become his powerup, that he wouldn't really use until S2.

Because of the great power that Electro Serpent gained before being obliterated, the switch became supercharged, allowing for Download's Electro Mode to be very powerful. This form gives him the ability to absorb electricity, and also use it in melee attacks, or through the Download Buster (big gimmick gun of the series).
