Description
A piece of fanart from my favorite book series that basically no one else has read. Tersa from "The Black Jewels" by Anne Bishop. The books are very good, although a bit hard to read (note: EVERY trigger warning possible in these things). The non trilogy companion books lighten it up considerably and I re-read the entire 8 book series about once a year (speed reading is basically my only super power)
Anyway, this is Tersa. She's my favorite secondary character. A Black Widow witch, able to read the future and manipulate the mind, she was stripped of her power at a young age. She was able to reclaim it at the cost of her sanity and is able to pull a power from madness that no one really understands. Her main plot role is to foretell the coming of the chosen one character, and warn Daemon (one of the 4 main characters) that the child is in danger with the repeated prophesy of "The Chalice is cracking".
hand drawn and inked with digital colors. I have been trying to improve my speed with the intention of some day doing a comic. I timed myself on this one and made myself finish the entire thing within 3 hours from start to finish. There are some mistakes and slightly sloppy areas, but for pushing myself out of my comfort zone I'm pleased

Awesome! Most people I know have not read them, hence the explanation paragraph.

Tersa was my favorite and i think Saetan really did love Tersa in his own way.

Same. I think it was a mutual respect and affection love, not nesesarily romantic, but those kinds of relationships need representation too.

Tersa is one of my favorite secondary characters, too. Bishop did a terrific job depicting her fractured sanity in the "Black Jewels" series.
Is your drawing meant to illustrate a particular point in the story, or just an overall impression of Tersa's character?

overall impression. I basically was trying to figure out what a "tangled web" would physically look like (as opposed to the illusion it creates) and that lead me here.
I love Anne Bishops other books as well, but I always come back to Black Jewels

Same here. It's a pity that the following isn't that large here on DA. I don't see much fanart / fanfiction based off her work. Was glad to see some today- and of a character not often drawn.
