Description
Here is the next entry in my Kamen Rider Caster project; the last of Caster’s standard Array forms, the Nature Array.
Bio: After mastering the Transfigure and Illusion Arrays, and with the Sorcerists gradually getting stronger, it was time for Egete to begin training in the Nature Array. The problem was that it took years for even the most skilled Magi to master Nature Magic; time that the current Caster couldn’t afford to spend. Thankfully, despite the branch’s emphasis on focus and magical awareness, Egete managed to achieve the Nature Array in record time, and eventually mastered all of the Array’s associated Crests.
Forms:
-Nature Array: “Shizen no Mahou - Sodai no Eihei Chakuriku” (Nature Magic - The Magnificent Sentry, Lands) The Nature Array is the most difficult branch of Arcanian Magic, dedicated to sensing & harnessing the ambient Magical Ability of the surrounding environment. This allows for enhanced Magical Ability like the Illusion Array, but without sacrificing the physical improvement usually gained by the Transfigure Array. The following Crests work the most effectively when used in combination with the Nature Array:
-Greater Beast Crest: “Hashire (Dash), Beast Magic” This Crest is used to invoke the qualities of animal(s), generally those too large to be comfortably held in a person’s arms. In the case of Caster, Anrima imbued this Crest with the swiftness of wolves, sharks, & hawks; granting Caster armor on both of his legs that allows him to run, swim, or air glide as well as these animals, but weakens his defensive abilities as a result.
-Lesser Beast Crest: “Tsuyomeru (Strengthen), Beast Magic” Opposite of the Greater Beast Crest, this Crest allows one to call upon the qualities of small animals such as insects, reptiles, & amphibians. Anrima crafted this Crest with the proportional strength and resilience of these animals in mind; equipping Caster with armor on both of his arms that grant him the same degree of strength and resilience, although the weight of the armor reduces his speed & agility.
-Thunder Crest: “Utsu (Strike), Thunder Magic” This Crest channels the electrical power of storms into whatever spell the Crest is used for. Outfitting Caster with armor on both arms, the Thunder Crest allows him to call down lightning within a general area; however this Crest is dedicated to forward offensive attacks, leaving Caster vulnerable to attacks from any other direction.
-Plant Crest: “Hiromeru (Grow), Plant Magic” Used in Arcanian arts & medicine, this Crest enables the user to utilize or enhance the qualities of various plants for whatever effect(s) are intended. For Caster, the Plant Crest grants him Crest Armor on both of his legs that allows him to manipulate local plant life as he chooses; though while useful for ensnaring or blocking enemies, it has little offensive power compared to the other Nature-oriented Crests and Caster must remain “rooted” in one place for the Crest to work.
-Element Crest: “Hajikeru (Burst), Element Magic” The most powerful of the Nature-oriented Crests, it allows the user to utilize the elements of fire, water, earth, & wind. As such, Anrima created this Crest so as to give each of Caster’s limbs control over each of these elements; allowing him to use them in any manner that he chooses, though he must maintain the correct balance of physical strength and Magical Ability to effectively use this Crest.
Design: This is Caster’s “Magic Knight” form, being adept to both physical combat and magic use; which I tried to represent by having a similar armor layout as the Transfigure Array and the armor itself being somewhere between the bulkiness of Transfigure Array and the thinness of Illusion Array. When I started working on this form, I considered inverting the usual color scheme (light suit, dark armor), but looking at the two side-by-side, I decided against it. As the most difficult of the main Arcanian branches of magic, this form has three horns; but because I didn’t want the symbol to be obscured, I arranged the central horn higher up on/on top of the helmet. The symbol & anime basis for Nature Magic is the world triad symbol used to describe Senjutsu in Naruto; in this case the three spiraling circles represent the 3 basic components of Nature Magic (material elements (plants, earth, & water), immaterial elements (thunder, fire, wind), & and living creatures (animals & even the Magus themselves)). Like before, I randomly assigned colors to the Crest Armors (with the exception of the Element Crest Armor) & designed them to somewhat represent their respective Crests (Greater Beast- decorated w/falcon wings, wolf claws, & shark fins, Lesser Beast- embedded beetle-styled armor, Thunder- electric-conducting spikes/implied lightning patterns on the inner arms, Plant- entwined in what I meant to be tree roots, Element- respective element designs). Since the Element Crest is the most powerful among Nature Crests (possibly the most powerful of all the basic Crests), I inverted the design of the armor/cuffs; making the armor silver & the cuffs colored along with the element designs (flames, swirling cloud/winds, rock formations, & waves).
