Description At the dawn of the Universe, before recorded time, there existed two mighty titans who clashed with one another; Primus the Great Creator and Master of Life, and Unicron the Chaos Bringer and Lord of the Dead. For centuries, these physical gods battled; a conflict of good vs. evil, order vs. chaos, creation vs. destruction, with neither side gaining an advantage over the other for very long. Then during a momentary respite, Primus came to an idea; if he alone could not defeat Unicron, then he would require aid. So Primus used his almighty powers to bring to life thirteen disciples; bodies forged from the cyber-matter of his own being, fueled by the energon running through his own veins, knowledge derived from the depths of his extensive processor, and guided by sparks born from his very own. Among these thirteen disciples, dubbed the Primes, included:

Onyx Prime- With a form resembling a might beast, Onyx Prime is the fiercest-looking member of the Primes, but one will not find a gentler soul
Alchemist Prime- A joyous master of the elements, Alchemist Prime’s powers border on the mystical; with his Optic Lenses allowing him to see far beyond this world
Solus Prime- A female Prime whose beauty is matched only by her boundless creativity; Solus Prime’s war hammer The Forge is capable of crafting anything from raw material
Alpha Trion- An elderly-looking Prime, Alpha Trion possesses the most wisdom of the Primes; guiding them as both strategist and record-keeper
Vector Prime- Composed of gears and  clockwork, Vector Prime is the master of time and space; able to use his sword to open portals in the very the fabric of space-time
Micronus Prime- The smallest of the Primes, what Micronus lacks in size, he makes up for with his ability to bring out the hidden potential in those he joins forces with
Megatronus- The mightiest warrior among the Primes, Megatronus is not too keen to show mercy towards his enemies
Prima- The chosen leader of the Primes, Prima’s skill in battle matches Megatronus, but it is his equivalent compassion that makes him worthy to bear the Matrix of Leadership; a reliquary containing the wisdom of Primus and all of the Primes

When Primus confronted Unicron again with the Thirteen Primes, the Chaos Bringer mocked his rival; believing that Primus intended to throw their conflict by dividing his power among these “inferior beings.” Unicron was swiftly proven wrong; for though the Thirteen Primes did not possess the combined power of Primus, their individuality allowed them to gain the advantage, weakening Unicron enough for Primus to land the final blow, sending Unicron into deep space. Wounded in both body and pride, Unicron transformed into a planet and went into stasis to recover, vowing vengeance on Primus and his disciples. The Primes reveled in their victory, but their celebration was cut short when Primus revealed that in creating them and battling Unicron, he had used much of his strength. Though his disciples feared this meant the end of Primus, he assured the Primes that it was only the beginning for them; transforming his body into a planet that the Primes could call their home. Primus tasked the Primes to live their lives as they saw fit; and so with his spark becoming the core of the planet, Primus had become Cybertron.

Together the Primes decided to as Primus had done; they pooled their resources to create a new race of transforming technological beings, even adapting themselves so the Primes could live among their fellow Cybertronians. Soon Cybertron was populated with Cybertronians of all shapes and sizes; from the diminutive Mini-Cons, to the city-sized Titans. Forming the Council of Primes, each of the Thirteen Primes took up followers of their own and Cybertron entered a Golden Age of knowledge and exploration; establishing colonies on uninhabited worlds, seeding them with energon, and creating new technologies like the Space Bridge teleportation system to connect these colonies with Cybertron. The indigenous animal life on one of these colonies inspired Onyx Prime to create Cybertronians with animal-based modes, instead of vehicle-based modes. While most of the Primes took great pride in this age of peace and prosperity, Megatronus longed for battle once again.

During one of their explorations, the Primes discovered their first planet inhabited with sentient life; Quintessa, and its techno-organic population the Quintessons. Despite the Quintessons distrusting the Cybertronians, the Primes wished to establish peaceful relations with them and exchange resources. But Megatronus, who was disgusted by the Quintessons’ partially organic nature, suggested that the Primes simply overpower the Quintessons and take their resources by force. Most of the other Primes disagreed with Megatronus’s plan, and he was overruled; but Megatronus would not be deterred. By the time the other Primes reached a decision, they were made aware that Megatronus and his followers, dubbed the Legion of Decepticons by Quintessa forces, had engaged the Quintessons. When the other Primes arrived, there had been losses on both sides; and when the Primes tried to intervene, the battle-crazed Megatronus slayed five of his own brothers and severely injured Alchemist Prime before the other Primes managed to subdue him. The Quintessons demanded that the Cybertronians leave their planet, not even allowing the Primes to gather up the fallen, or else it would mean full-out war between their planets. The remaining Primes relented on the condition that they at least be allowed to leave with their fallen brothers. After returning to Cybertron the Primes laid their fallen to rest, though it is unclear what happened to Alchemist Prime; the rumor is that while he survived the battle with Megatronus, he lost his elemental powers and his ability to continue acting as a Prime, so he chose to live a simpler life as a normal Cybertronian for the rest of his days. As for Megatronus, despite his actions, the other Primes could not bring themselves to execute their own brother; instead they chose to use their powers to exile Megatronus to another dimension, where he could not bring harm to any form of life, beyond the reach of time itself. Before vanishing into the other dimension, Megatronus vowed to return and destroy all that his “traitorous” siblings ever cared about. Although Megatronus was gone, and further records of him were erased, there were still those who believed in his philosophy of achieving things through force; those who proudly called themselves Decepticons.

Despite resolving the conflict, Megatronus’s actions took their toll on the six remaining Primes; a sense of doubt plagued their thoughts. Over the next few decades, these distractions led the Council of Primes to make some mistakes, but when the Primes’ mistakes began to cost entire colonies, they began to rethink their positions as leaders of Cybertron. It was decided that the Primes would go their separate ways, and that the Council of Primes would become the Cybertronian Council; made up of chosen individuals. Onyx Prime chose to live a peaceful life on colony Beastron with his fellow beast-mode Cybertronians, and Micronus Prime along with most Mini-Cons, did not wish to stray far from their home and set up a colony on one of Cybertron’s moons. Vector Prime wished to explore the vast reaches of time and space, and Solus Prime chose to lock The Forge away with the other artifacts in the Halls of Iacon before departing from Cybertron herself. Alpha Trion chose to stay on Cybertron to guide the new Council, but while Prima wished to pass the Matrix of Leadership to his brother before leaving, Alpha Trion convinced him to let the Matrix choose one of Prima’s own students. And so over the centuries, the Matrix was passed down from one chosen leader to another until it would not choose another and was instead kept in the care of Alpha Trion. As time passed, the citizens of Cybertron began to forget the advancements made in their early centuries, the title of Prime began to mean less and less, and the legacy of the Thirteen Primes faded into legend.

But there would be more than meets the eye for Cybertron’s history.
