done with a normal pencil.

as an artist engineer in engineering school, not much time to draw. this is how i feel my artistic side and my engineering side interact at the moment. the pencil is sharp, ready to be used, but kinda "lulled" to sleep by the ipod. but at the same time it's tangled up in the wires, kinda trapped.

The itouch can only ouput music, it can't create. but i can inspire the pencil. which creates.

there's more to this.... i positioned the light source to kinda make the shadows spread out, giving tension between the two opjects, even though they are lying together, almost peacefully.

there is also an analog-digital twist, for the engineering mind. the idea that sound is continuous, but then it is converted to digital 0's and 1's. And even though it sounds fluid, it's not. but as it goes into pencil, something can come out as continuous or analog again. not your normal digital analog converter, but oh well.

oh yes, this was done purely by me for my advanced drawing class.

oh the mask.... as i was drawing i started thinking how this was kinda like the relationship between the phantom of the opera and cristine. so i drew the ablum cover/mask on the itouch.
