"He knows he’s poisoned pretty soon after the arrow lodges in his shoulder - the taste on his tongue is familiar, something he’s brewed himself before. He really should have his own weapons poisoned too… what sort of assassin alchemist was he? Shit…
The sand is rough when his head hits it on his way down. The thought floats by that he’s gonna die this time, as the other guy walks over… he should have slit the fucker’s throat when he had the chance. Shit.
He got sloppy.
He was about to bleed out again because he got fucking sloppy.
He could snarl, or laugh, or choke on his own tongue before the guy got the satisfaction, if he had been able to move, or make his body listen…"
