Description I walk a dusty, winding path,
down ol' memory lane.
I look about in wonder,
gazing at the sights I've seen.
There's Chaplin at his best,
with laughter in a bowling hat.
Then, peddling by comes
the postman, rain or shine,
whistling on his way.
There comes my lover,
my dashing young prince in
evening dress, latest fashion,
of the swingin' sixties.
I join him, ruffling my skirt,
laughing merrily at a forgotten joke.
Now I see us, later on,
toddler in toe.
We look radiant and youthful,
so happy and so young.
Now I blink to see us standing,
watching the ceremony.
My daughter is getting married now,
to her very own prince charming.
I glance down at my faded skirt,
sighing with thought.
That was me just yesterday,
or was it, I forgot.
I blink again, I jump to today,
looking through fuzzy eyes,
peering at my wrinkled reflection,
wondering about time.
Looking down one last glance,
my faded, ruffled skirt.
My party days are over now,
no more dancing,  no more youth
but I'll always have my memories
and that's all that counts.
