Description
My entry for the eight day of Equestria Daily's Artist Training Grounds. The theme was "Draw a Pony trying something new," so I drew Twilight radically pushing her boundaries (it's happened to me, this is pretty serious stuff). This is technically the first closeup I've drawn period, come to think of it. I must say, its alot easier to just draw from the neck up. Unfortunately, this didnt give me much of a chance to practice my stroke widths (my biggest challenge currently in Illustrator). Oh well, I'm happy with how this turned out - I was worried the concept wouldn't make sense.
Edit 1.2 - Changed the coefficients to be the same on left and right, in hopes of making the concept a bit more clear.

Okay, the subject of this drawing definitely cracked me up. I used to be one of those evil, evil people who use the rounded x which can be seen on the right side of that paper, but a few years back I saw the light and converted to the One True X, which, of course, has straight lines
Anyway, seeing how the Training Ground is completely useless for this kind of thing, let me come up with some constructive criticism for you.. As you can see here [link] , the muzzle and the neck don't actually form a single smooth line. The muzzle continues in a circular shape into the neck for a bit. So that's something you might wish to pay some extra attention to ^^

Thanks for your reply. I started off as a One True X person, and I'm trying out the rounded one (really not sure how I feel about it even still. It looks much nicer when the textbooks do it than when I do)
As for the neck, I was kind of divided on that part. Some references I saw with her leaning in (like I'm going for here) head them almost merging, so I went with that [[link] In hindsight, I don't know that she's leaning quite enough for the merged lines to make sense. At any rate, I definitely appreciate the critique

Well, if you look very closely, you can see that even in that image the muzzle is still seperate from the neck. Here, I've retraced the relevant line of pixels in GIMP to hopefully make it a bit more clearly visible [link]

Ah, you're right. Thanks for taking the time to trace that and show me. I'll keep that in mind if I draw any more like this.

It took me a minute, but you had me laughing as soon as I got it. I think it would have been clearer if the coefficients and exponents were identical for both versions of X.

I was at a bit of a loss as to how to convey this idea. That makes sense though - I think I'll update it with that change, thanks.
Also, thank you for becoming my first follower I didn't know beforehand.

Awesome. This is why the artist challenge is so great- you get to interact with other budding artists and get new friends.

If I'm right (which I might not be but I'm pretty confident), then the answer is...
... oh, wait. I forgot to factor in the other x's. Shit...

Haha. She's not doing an equation per se (she can do those in her sleep). Just drawing x a different way. It's something I tried out lately and have mixed feelings on
