Description (Asher's Point of View)

"Why did you recrute him, Marcus?" I hissed as I attempted to ward off a migrane. From the looks of things, that new student seemed annoying, and he was the last person I wanted to deal with right about now. Normally, I don't judge people, but that n00b came to school on the wrong day. He practically screamed "IGNORANT".
Marcus grinned in such a way that showed his amusement. "Asher, did you HEAR his voice? It was a perfect tennor!" his loud voice toned down. "Plus, he looks black, so it's a win-win for us. We seriously need more black people to join for RENT in order to pull it off you know. Just be glad we're not doing The Wiz."
I turned my head away from him. Marcus sighed. "Geez… What's wrong with you? That's good news. And the kid isn't so bad. What do you have against him?"
Truth is, that new guy reminded me of how I was sophmore year; Oblivious to my surroundings and other things that were going on in the world. That changed by the end of the year, and it's that change I made that makes me hate people like him so much. No… It's not like I hate him, but rather, I feel as though I know what's going to happen to him and I don't like the outcome.
"For the past few days I've been having dreams about my ex…" I mustered up. My trusted cousen knew  how much I've tried to forget him, and it was working for a while up until the nighmares. Marcus grabbed ahold of me and squeezed, attempting to comfort me.
"Maybe you can't forget because you still haven't moved on," he suggested. "Perahaps you should find another guy."
That wasn't such a bad idea, but it's not like I haven't tried to. It's not too hard to find gay guys in our school, but I've never really fell for any of them. Rather, we end up friends. Most of the time I'd end up falling for a straight guy, acknowlaging he was straight and that my love would most definitely end up crushed and one sided; Although by the end my logic outweighed my hormones and I'd give up eventually.
"Though you are pretty high-standard, so it must be tough…" Mumbled Marcus. I playfully elbowed his chest. I know I am. "But at least I don't casually fall in love with people just for their voice," I remarked. Marcus ruffled my hair. I guess keeping an open mind for a while won't be such a bad idea. Perhaps instead of seeking, which never worked out in my case, I'll wait to be seeked.

(Eric's Point of View)

Erika begged me to join the drama club, so I decided to try out today, though we won't find out who gets what part until later on next week. I leaned onto the wall next to the autotorium doors, waiting for my name to be called, not sure what exactly I was to do when it was. I whipped out my human bio book in the meantime and attempted to find English meaning in the context. Not even a few days into school and I'm already lagging in the subject. Though my guidence councellor told me there's a bunch of student tutors in the school, and that she'd set me up with one of them to help me.
Out of the corner of my eye, that short blonde-haired boy appeared and sat down on the opposite side of the door. He glanced over at me only to give a cold leer and then ignore my presence. I sighed and again tried to decipher my textbook. After a few minutes I gave up and went to put it away. Instead, I accidentally dropped it, and it landed with a large THUD.
The blonde jumped and immediately turned to me. My face turned a shade of red in embarassment as I scrambled to put the book in my backpack. He shook his head and proceeeded to look the other way. "Sorry…" I mumbled.
Time didn't seem to move during the time I sat there, so I took out my iPod and decided to relax. I must have subconchesly started to hum, because that guy smiled and quietly said, "I like that song…" I took out an ear-bud. The boy jolted as though he didn't think I'd hear him. He looked frightened, so I decided not to say anything.
Curriously, my eyes wandered to him. I haven't really gotten a good look at the kid, even though I've been seeing him around quite often as of late. I scanned his thin, almost fragile looking body, shocked at how thin he was. I moved up to his face, being rather sharp-looking yet with a touch of softness. His ears stuck out boldly, being a healthly hue of pink. His neutral-colored blonde hair barely graised his round blue eyes…that ended up making contact with me!
Oh shit… I turned away, just realizing how creepy it was to stare at him and point out all his features.
"Hey," his higher-pitched male voice started.
"Eric! You're up!" Gabby called. Oh, thank God. I quickly rushed to follow her, face exploding with color. "Sorry, Mike was stuck in traffic."
"That's fine," I replied quickly. "Uh, so what exactly do I have to do to audion?"
"Sing for us."
"That's all?"
"Yup!"
Simple enough. "Any specific song?" I questioned.
"Anything's fine, but if you can actually sing a song from RENT it's better."
I searched through my playlist, wondering if I had any of the songs in there. I re-watched the movie yesterday with Erika, so at least one of the songs should be fresh in my mind.
"I'll sing One Song Glory." I told the middle-aged man, who seemed to be the director. He crossed his feet on the chair and looked at me with un-amusement.
"Go ahead," He said. "You only have to sing a little part of it. I just need to get a feel for your voice."
I sang through the whole song.

(Asher's Point of View)

Stunning. His voice alone projected so well I could hear it from outside the autotorium. He sung softly and was able to add the emotion the song's meaning had wanted to portray. I actually poked my head through the doors and stepped into the auditorium to fully hear it. Gabby and Marcus were there too, just as shocked as I. Sure, we had heard his voice, but not like…this.
After Mike, our director, had thanked him, he rushed to leave. He seemed to notice me too, since on the way out he glanced at me and turned his head away as his cheeks turned red. He was most likely flustered at the fact I noticed him stairing at me. Instead of giving him another cold leer, I smiled this time. As he opened the door, I said, "Nice job," softly, hoping he wouldn't really hear. He turned his head towards me and nodded with a grin to thank me.
My turn. Stepping down to say hi to Mike and the others, Mike laughed and told me when I was halfway down, "I already know your voice. And who I want you to be. You're free to go, Asher."
"Thanks!" I replied. I know exactly who he wants me to be…
