(Okay, the first copy of this apparently got lost in Deviation Limbo, so I'm going to try uploading it again... here goes nothing...)

I was browsing dA the other day when I came across the pixel art section... I was really interested, so I decided to try my hand at it. A few online tutorials later, I managed to make this. I modeled her off of the character sprites from FF6--does it show? The sprite on the left is the original; the other two resulted when my little sister begged me to mess with the palette. ^^

I like how it turned out, but I there are a few things I'd change if I had the time... For one thing, I'd eliminate the blocks of same-color pixels on that one corner of the hair and especially the dress. Also, I went a bit overboard in trying not to use too many black outline pixels... as a result, there's not enough contrast within the sprite (this is less of a problem in the first version, because I deliberately picked contrasting colors), and there's a chance she'd fade into the background in an actual game... still, I'm particularly happy with her hair and her little cape (that is, if anyone else can tell it's a cape).

Anyways, I'd like to program a little RPG-type Java game sometime, and I'll need to be able to draw sprites for it... and that's why I'd really love any comments or criticism--especially if you're a pixel artist yourself. ^^ But at the very least, you can tell me which color scheme you like best (or if there's another one you'd like me to try ).

UPDATE: At the behest of Aktionhank, I added a new sprite! Hey, maybe now they could represent the four seasons... or the four elements. Or something.
