Description
I got another comic strip done! I must be on some sort of roll! Only... this one doesn't really have continuity with anything; it's just a funny thought I had and decided to make into a comic. The problem is, before I actually start a serial comic, I want to be mostly certain of what I'm doing as far as both artwork and storyline. And anybody who knows me can tell you that I NEVER have my act together like that. Ah, well...Okay, notes on the comic itself. I like these characters; not extremely original, perhaps, but maybe I'll use 'em again sometime. I didn't actually look at an actual backpack at any point during the creation of this strip. It shows, doesn't it? Oh, and the cat's paw in the first panel is the best hand I have ever drawn. Seriously. I am SO not kidding.
Oh, and please comment on my stuff! I don't care if you don't like it... I'll gladly accept constructive criticism. Blatant insults, even!
I mean it!

That is a really good cartoon style. Well characerized and drawn out. Leaves just enough to the mind to make it creatively expanding.
It's a strip that has the potential to be very popular.

Wow. And I was just trying to draw a couple of cute animals as a vehicle for a bad pun.
But seriously, thanks for the praise. Hopefully I -will- get an ongoing comic going sometime soon... >.>

This is a good comic. As far as continuity goes... fuck continuity. Just make a comic that doesn't pretend to have any real continuity. And when it does have continuity, then that's great too. (A possible example of this: [link] )
I short, I want to see more.

Hehehe! Well, since everyone seemed to like this one so much, I just might try to make some more comics with these characters... or other characters... or something. Yup.
(On a side note, I read through the entire archives of In a Perfect World. It is very cool. )

Yes, yes it is.
And I can give you the links to many, many other equally excellent comics.
Not to mention a few that manage to be better. (which, I'd bet, requires non-euclidian geometry. Or something.)
Nothing against IAPW... a few other just manage to flat-out out-perform it.

Ooh... I've heard that one was good... I'll have to look through the archives sometime. ^^
Yeah, if you've got any other links, go ahead and post them here or send me a note or something--I'm always on the lookout for good comics.

I really liked your character drawings, and even though you amy think that they are not as origional as all that, they were new to me - that is not saying much - and Ithoguht that they were amazingly well drawn!!! oh..question...do all comic artist know how to write in comic handwriting...or is it a thing that you ahve as a font on your computer??? *just curious* good hand - I can't draw them at all so I am in awe - I aprove! *stamps rosies stamp*

Random people I don't know are spontaneously commenting on my comic! (My friends are, too!) I feel so warm and fuzzy...
To answer your question, GS, that's not my handwriting (I wish!). I use a font called Comic Sans MS--although my own handwriting might just be tidy enough to work--and I have to say, when I hide the ink and color layers, leaving just the panel boxes and the text, my comic looks decently professional! It's sort of cool. Now I've just got to get my drawing skills up to scratch. Or up to snuff. Or whatever the expression is. Yeah... this pic and most of the others in my gallery were done entirely on my computer. This is mostly becauses my scanner hates me. I don't know why.
And speaking of the Rosie Stamp of Approval, I ought to show this to her...

Twasn't the best joke ever, but it was funny enough ^_^ Better than a lot of comic strip jokes actually. Anyways, I like the characters, and GOOD JOB on that hand! Remember what I said: in order to cartoonify reality, you have to study reality to know what you're simplifying. That way it won't look awkward. If you do that, then you can do hands like that ALL the time. That's the only thing you really need to do, is study anatomy. Even though that's a big thing. Lol. The backpack looks very good: the stitching helps a lot. The only thing to make it more backpackish IMO is an extra pocket on the front that sticks out like the jansports. The anatomy of your characters, especially the fox, is actually pretty good, however. The only things really that strike me as really terribly incorrect is the collar bone on the cat. Study the slope of the shoulders.
Also the clothing doesn't like skin-tight on the body. Trust me, it took me forever to notice that. If you want, I'll show you how to draw it at school Tuesday. Remember that T-shirts have collars that stick out ever so slightly because it lays on the body. Also, something I'm still researching myself, is the volume of the male chest, especially from the profile view.
I love the first panel! It's very well done Matt! Good GOOD job! +Favorites!

Not quite enough to make me fall laughing to the floor, but it did elicit a giggle. The expressions are good. That paw is excellent. Keep it up
