A shot from Warsaw, a rescue male Plakat betta, from above. I've noticed no one really photographs bettas from above, but they have a lovely shape.
Warsaw lives in a 5g super-shallow bin, because he has a swim bladder injury that causes him great difficulty in surfacing. He came to me with a lot of issues - hexamita, septicemia, fin rot, fight injuries, and swim bladder problems to name a few. Today, the only sign of his rough past is the trouble he has swimming - a "fighter" in the best sense of the word!
I like this shot for a first try, but I dislike how the upper left corner has some glare from the flash. I liked the balance so I didn't crop it off, but in the future I want to try bright lighting so I needn't use a flash. I know a slower shutter speed would make more sense, but it is hard to get a non-blurry photo of a fish doing his waggle-dance begging for food with a slow shutter speed!
