Description
I was asked to knock out a poster design for this local music show. I'll be throwing up some text here in a little bit to go along with it, but wanted to put this up because I haven't shown much of my design work.Wanted something that would be somewhat eye catching, and ultimately something that wouldn't take me long to do. Vector work is super quick and this didn't take terribly long at all. Based off a couple pictures.....
Now, back to comic drawin!

the messy look is interesting but i think you pushed it a bit too much. less shadows would of been more IMO.
i dont really see how this related to a music gig, but perhaps with the text it would of made sense.
btw, i have to disagree with you on the statement that "vector work is super quick"- it takes me forever!! im much faster at working in raster, perhaps because it feels more natural and i learned photoshop years before illustrator.

Thanks for the critique. All of the colors were on separate layers and I played around with having less shades and ultimately, this worked the best imo. I should have simplified the shirt a bit.
I was looking for something that I thought would get you to look at the ad, or want to, from across the street. Something that stood out on a wall of other fliers. The venue always has pretty random poster designs, so I just kinda went with it. That was the thought process.
But with the pencil tool all you do is make outlines and it fills it in just like that! Poof! Super easy to tweak colors and shapes too. It just works for me when I'm going for the graphic look.

Really amazing.
I'm not really able to find a relation between this design a music show.. however, the design itself is crazy.
Neat, detailed, polished work.

The venue always had random posters with anything from a stack of books to a wrench. I also wanted something that would catch your eye when you look at the board full of different fliers. Thats what I was shooting for. Thanks!

I tend to make my people green as well. My friends think I have a fixation. >.>
Very interesting and original! I love the active patterns of color: it's very active. Just like visible brush strokes in a classic painting.

Thanks, I always laugh when people say it looks "Zombie-ish." Not zombie-ish, she's just green damnit!

Hm, is she not a zombie? If not, what is she. I am rather curious.

Green.
I played around with different color schemes and was bored with the standard route, so I came up with the Green Brown and Pink. Zombies are decaying with bite marks...

I have to say that is very cool. Well, who said they had to be decaying? What about those freshly made zombies?

freshly made wouldn't be green yet.

This is true. but we don't have any examples sadly. Oh well, I guess that is what makes them sort of scary.

Her hands and her mouth are exquisite! If I saw this poster hanging around, I would take it down and bring it home!

The curves of the forms in this vector portrait are so intricate, that looking each part of it is almost like a piece of art in and of itself.

nice overall... but you've missed the mark on making her look attractive... take down the shadows on her face, and some of the detail on her mouth.
I hate to say it, but she looks mentally handicapped here... in fact, with my horrible mind, and lack of sleep, I can hear Carlos Mencia in the background going 'deh deh-dehhhh'
The hands don't help.. great anatomy, but you've put far too much detail in... it's lost femininity and become old-man-hands-like...
But, as you said, you will be simplifying...
I have no idea what this show is going to be, so I can't critique any more than that... is there a reason for the murky, 30's, vault of horror color palette, though?

It was just a poster advertising a rock show around town for a friend who organized it.
Thanks for the critique.
