Is this supposed to be a representation of a T. rex on a Jurassic Park like scenario or on the Late Cretaceous?

I could actually imagine that walking around today. Very realistic.

Very interesting portrayal of the T-Rex, which is probably more accurate since they are a closer relative to birds than reptiles.

Like the effect with the feathers lying flat over the dinosaur's skin

I like to imagine T. rex as having shaggy feathers that look more like fur, like an Emu, because it enhances the bearlike qualities of the animal. This is quite cool though

I personally think that if T-rex had feathers it would've looked more like this swordlord3d.deviantart.com/artβ¦
But this still is a pretty great drawing.

Pretty sure they just did a study of fossilized T. rex skin impressions and it didn't have feathers as an adult, at least not covering it's body like that. Still, looks amazing

It might have still possessed feathers as an adult because those fossilized skin impressions are just a portion of its body so there might have been areas that had feathers or fluff and areas that had scales. Some other tyrannosaur species possessed feathers like the yutyrannus, so I guess that indicates that T-rex might as well be covered with something similar. Comparing to modern animals, I have never seen a naked relative of a Tiger or an ostrich

Makes sense, I guess. Which portions of the body did they find impressions of anyway?

I'd be honest with you, I'm not really sure. Although I found an image of it where it seems like covering something like a set of ribs so it's most likely on the side of the animal as well as its underbelly. Here (hope the link works)

Well, my dog doesn't have hair on her underbelly, so maybe T. rex didn't either?Β

Shaggy black feathers always look great on tyrannosaurs.

Indeed, I know we still couldn't tell for sure what the feather colors are but most likely it would've been dark or blackish

dinosaurs are giant chicken, or chickens are tiny dinosaurs, can not deny the morphological ressemblance! thats my theory... great job tho!

no, theya re neither. birds evolved from therapod dinosaurs of the maniraptora Β family, where in the Tyrannosaurus was its own family,, also the larger the animal is the more heat its body accumulate Β so to have a insulate that covers the body whould be a hindrence and they whould over heat. thats why large mammals like Β elephants, rhinos and hippos arnt Β covered in fur. Theres members of the tyrannosaur family that hade feathers, the late jurassic species dilong and the later Yutyrannus, though the first one was smaller than a man, and the later was bigger yutyrannus also lived in colder climate then feathers whould help it keep warm, but the Famous T.rex lived in warmer climate and was the largest of its line thus feathers to keep warm whould amke it overheat.
Also recent studies has shown that feathred dinosaurs wasent as common as previous thought

all im saying is its believable and people need to forget that they know and go with the flow of their imagination a little bit, (my answer stem from somebody commenting smthg stuck up and narrow minded... i don't see it anymore )
i was not stating anything, its a "theory", a broad simplified one too, am not an archaeologist or a scientist, just keeping my brain open.
