DD = daily deviation. scroll down ot the bottom of the page and you'll see several thumbnails. above them there's a writing "You are viewing Daily Deviations". almost everyone has that band of thumbnails.

daily deviation means your tut appeared there for everyone to click. that's why you have 990 comments

aw, come on. hate to bring it to ya, but popularity in dA isn't as good as you imagine. sometimes the things they award a DD are... urgh. don't sweat it. it's like being a superstar. ozzy ozbourne is a superstar, and so is britney spears. does it speak something about their quality as musicians? not really... it just speaks bad about society's choices, lol.

I'm not one hundred percent sure what a DD is, but I do know that pieces here are often suggested to be put in a collection of meaningful or moving pieces that can be seen at the bottom of search pages. Then, some one with the power to do so will choose some to be featured each day. The messages would be the comments, probably
