TRELANE (still visible only as a glowing green blob on the main viewing screen): “Yes, Captain Drake, that’s very good! I was once known as ‘The Squire of Gothos.’ But I’ve grown up so much since then. And I’m so much more powerful now! I hail from a dimension known as ‘The Continuum,’ which I’m afraid is utterly beyond your pitiful limited mortal comprehension.

I've brought you all here today from 2 different times and 2 different realities to . . . well, . . . to entertain me of course! I’ve selected your particular ships and crews because you represent some of the most interesting and colorful vessels and champions in history. You see, there’s going to be a great and delightful battle here today! On the one side, representing the forces of light, truth, justice, and decency is the Federation’s finest, the U.S.S. Constitution AND the U.S.S. Reliant.

And on the other side, . . . the massive Imperial Star Destroyer Instigator (and it’s escorting battle group.) They come from the Galactic Empire, a dark, oppressive, militant regime that rules by power, fear, and intimidation!

Today, I want to see who will win in a fair fight. And the winner, . . . gets to decide the fate of the losers. Oh, and in case you’d like to try to communicate, I’ve updated both of your translators, so you’ll be able to converse at will.

Well then, I say, . . . let the battle begin!”

DRAKE: “Wait! Trelane! What part of this is fair? We’re completely outnumbered!”

M-6: “The channel is closed, Captain.”

DRAKE: “M-6, quick, hail the Imperial ship. Maybe there’s some way that we can talk our way out of. . . .”
