This is great! I love the angle, and style, very on key to the original style. And the coloring is so festive and cute. I love it! <3

Thanks! Capturing the feel of the actual show is/has-always-been really important to me.

Everything about this is great. I especially love the details, such as the christmass tree decorations (buttered toast?!) and the little Jesus on the box. The colors, too, are amazing.

OH WOW! The perspective on this is so amazing! It really blows my mind. The talent you have is astounding. The tinsel is one of my favorite parts. It's so well done, so real, yet so EEnE style. The tree is also really well done everywhere... and it's so XD Ed! I love the "worms eye view" perspective that evenly flows up through the tree and the ceiling. Ed is so adorable... his smile brings a smile to my face as well.
I also like how Eddy and Double D look. I can't tell if Eddy is dropping off presents for Ed or stealing from him. Which is it?

The tinting and shading is also really well done. I'm not used to doing that in EEnE style... but once I get good at it, I'd like to try.

Thank you for your artwork! It's great artists like you that inspire me to try all sorts of random things to get better, from realism, to manga/anime, and I guess in the case of this account, Ed Edd n' Eddy style.

Awe, I'm flattered!

Yeah, Eddy's supposed to be delivering presents with Edd encouraging him to keep quiet.

Its usually of some benefit to at least try drawing in a style that isn't quite your own. Not only will you need to do that for clients, but after you draw the same way for a while it all starts to feel the same. Doing something different will usually lead to enriching your own personal style.

Wow, you just made my day right there... I also just realized I never watched you, yet I come back here all the time? *Changes that*

Thanks for clearing that up.

I guess you are right, I notice every time I try another person's style it changes something about mine. In the case of Ed Edd n' Eddy, it has a huge effect on the way I draw mouths in my own style.

Also, do you think I could ask you some tips on realism? Or in general? I've seen myself in a art rut lately.. I can't seem to get better, and realism is something I can rarely seem to be satisfied on.

Finally, thank you for being one of the many art inspirations in my life. :3

The angled composition hit me immediately- the focus is on Ed, of course, but while being set in frog perspective, it allows you to see the whole area around him as well, including the ceiling and the action going on elsewhere in the room. Interesting and believable at the same time- and it appeals to me on a personal level; I blame EEnE for the action-packed mode my mind has been in ever since inspiration struck. Can't be without interaction or having my subjects just standing there randomly posing, no matter how hard it is to pull it off. I wrote a comic story about my characters, and while it’s strictly about animal behaviour to a degree, the energy and creative antics is of a notable influence. To me, at least.
But back on your piece here- I actually like how the garland isn’t completely detailed towards the other end of the room- it gives a sense of depth and distance.

I may not be commenting often, but I’m always enjoying your inspiring work, and the insight.

Oh these colors are beautiful. The varying hues in the tree, the room itself, the subtle shading on Ed's skin, just great! I maintain my stance that the Ed Edd n' Eddy holiday episode is one of the best modern uses of the "Christmas special" formula, I fell in love with it immediately. And I do so adore this piece! It's a shame it's unfinished, but what we have still looks amazing! A lot of atmosphere to this one, and the sense of depth it gives is very impressive given the cartoon subject matter. My goodness I have to imagine that garland must have been hell. That would have been the last nail in the coffin for me, drawing each little strand of that would have exhausted me to such a point that I would have a great deal of trouble picking this back up. Bit of a flaw of mine, working to correct it... I'm very happy to see this, though, you've done great work!

The Christmas episode is probably my favorite of the three holiday special. Its the best pacing and the best characterization, since its the only holiday show that is actually ABOUT its respective 'Ed'.

You actually pinpointed it with the garland.. I think that was the last major thing I did before giving up on it--you can see its not even finished on the tree. It was just one of those things that I couldn't figure out if it looked right.. so I let it sit.. and sit.. and sit.. and yeah. Plus it was a bit after Christmas and I was falling out of the spirit of the moment.

Maybe I'll pick it up again if it strikes me to this Christmas. Strong MAYBE. LoL

But thanks though for the in-depth comment. I appreciate those.

Ahah, that's true! I had never realized that! But very interesting to note, I will be keeping this in mind when I go back and watch these again!

I can totally relate, though. One of the things I tend to attempt is to make it look as though the characters I draw don't just have hair, but actually have visible strands of hair. Done right, it looks rather nice. It's not that it's difficult; it's just very, very tedious. I normally consider myself a patient man, but when it comes to artwork, I lose patience faster than most, I think <:I As a result I've finished holiday pieces too late, as well. Though my last Christmas pic couldn't be finished on time due to a virus that resulted in me having to reinstall my OS and start from scratch. Thank God I held onto my art files!!

Hey, I wouldn't object to seeing this completed if you ever decided to I won't get my hopes up, understandably, but it would be nice! And I've no trouble leaving more lengthy comments, I like to be sure another artist's efforts are being realized by at least one more person!

LoL thanks very much! It was actually a bit tough, getting the angle right. At that point I was not drawing BGs all that often..

oh oooh ok, I see him now. lol I kind of glanced at it really quick before and it looked like Eddy was in a garbage bin. XD but then I looked it again more closely and I see him now. XD

oh yeah, I love how Ed's tree is decorated with toast. XD and what might it be that is keeping the tree all lit up on top? XD
