Halloween Writintg Challenge #29 – What’s in the witch’s cauldron?

Potion

“Wing of bat and toe of dog, indeed… No, none of that nonsense for this brew.  Bit of mausoleum dust for a base, and some mummy’s shroud as a binding agent.  Piece of a deer’s tongue for sweetness.  Lavender, surely, and sage, for protection, as well as the smell… can’t underestimate the olfactory factors.  Bit of eucalyptus as well… clears the sinuses and opens the chakras.  Petals of nightshade and aconite—nothing perks up a potion like a bit of poison.  Can’t go wrong with a little moisturizing slug mucus.  A generous sprinkle of finely pounded faery for that extra glittery effect.  That should do it.  Now we stir well to mix, mold into a ball, and swing the cauldron off the fire.”

The old crone tests the water with the back of one hand and drops in the newly-formed orb.  “Not too hot, not too cold!  And look how it fizzes!”  She then disrobes and, with the aid of a stepstool, climbs up and into the cauldron, disappearing inside.  A few moments later, a much younger, blonder witch pops her head up over the rim.  “These potion bath bombs are so rejuvenating!”
