Invisible Children's The Rescue Event, Lincoln, Nebraska.Invisible Children is trying to end the longest running war in Africa and free the abducted child soldiers of Uganda. Their event The Rescue, an effort to raise awareness and create action on behalf of the child soldiers, took place in 100 cities worldwide on April 25th, 2009. Attendees 'abducted themselves,' marched from an abduction site to the LRA (Lord's Resistance Army) Camp, and waited for media and political or social leaders to 'rescue' them by coming and voicing their support. I attended the event in Lincoln, NE. As of today, April 30, Chicago is the only city left to be rescued.

that's amazing! we had a local politician whose name i don't remember come rescue us. apparently his daughter was involved in The Rescue, so.... we had the guilt-trippin daughter on our side.

are you referring to the thing about the senator in oklahoma? i haven't really been following that much. although i saw that the people camping out been offered the chance to use the showers at a local hotel, which is awesome.

i heard they were touring. i know they're coming to a city near me, and so i was just wondering if it had to do with the "Dr. No" thing.
...i wonder if it ever really get resolved. i wonder if child soldiers really ever will end...

oh! well, i do know that they're touring this spring, but i don't think it has anything to do with "Dr. No"
and as long as people like us continue to be involved and spread the word, we'll continue to make progress. invisible children has come a long way since they began. don't give up. we can make this happen!

i really hope so.
i'm a missionary, you see. all i want to do with my life is make a difference in this world, and love people like God has called us all to do.
but sometimes it all just seems so big and so terrible. i wish i could just take all of the invisible children in my house and give them all chocolate chip cookies and let them sleep in a feather bed!
sigh... i dunno. sometimes it's hard to be hopeful. i still am, but the longer i live, the harder it is to be. especially when so many around you give up hope.
