It's kinda based on .hack series,in which the main character(who plays a game online) falls in love with an AI who has a soul(which the game counts as a player).

Actually,I haven't read much of it either but for my birthday I got 2 books of it and the First game on the PS2 for Christmas(haven't played it yet) It is created by Cyberconnect2(who makes Naurto:Ultimate Ninja) and Bandai.
Also,Sometime I'll remember to read Downloading(I love the plot.)
