I like to think Barley is the least malicious form of Fae imaginable. He's also the most care-free older sibling ever imagined in fiction. I took one look at him in the teaser, and I knew he reminded me of two other siblings: Maya (from "Ghosts") and Greg (from "Over the Garden Wall")
But here's the thing: those are younger siblings. I find it ironic that in his free-spirited way, Barley relates more to younger sibling characters than he does to older siblings.

Commentary: I had Maya keep her breathing tank because it has a certain symbolic value. I think it nicely highlights that despite her CF, it doesn't always keep her from embracing life to the fullest. Not to mention it also gives Barley a chance to be a big brother by aiding Maya.
