Thanks, thats the good thing about the early light. You can have the contrast without it getting blown out.

Thank you so much. Not my usual muted style but the colours called for a little extra oomph.

Beautiful shot but I wonder why the tree in the foreground hasn't fallen over

It couldn't be easier. You need a tripod, a bracketed shot, (three shots of the same picture with one under exposed, one overexposed, and one exposed correctly. Most cameras have an auto bracket feature but I haven't read that far yet so I just manually adjust my exposures. Then you need a free download of Photomatix Basic. You can download the higher versions free as well but they have watermarks unless you want to pay the price. The software is pretty simple and lets you merge the photos and then do the tone mapping in two easy steps. Let me know if any of this helps.

I am prety sure it has. I had figured out the bracketing part and I have auto bracketing. The photomatix basic is good info though. I will have to look that up. Thanks much.

I just use bracketed shots and a free download of Photomatix Basic. You can download the higer versions free as well but they have watermarks. I am not very technically advanced so I use the existing settings for tone mapping.

Yours looks very good, very life like! I think most of the HDR rendered pics I've seen on here, people go overboard and they look like you traced everything with a black sharpie

Sometimes it pays to not know what you're doing.
