“Riku, can you please stop going over that way?” I asked as I made the octopus’ arms shake like crazy, desperately trying to cling onto something.
“No. This is where we need to go.” The teen calmly stated and I just grumbled something under my breath.
Without even bothering to tell him, I stuck the arms onto the wall and Riku glares at me, knowing full well that we have to ‘cooperate’ to even progress in this game that you call Octodad. He better let me get the tie up on that snuggle-fish. I thought as I smirked at him. Or we’ll be stuck on this wall forever! …Unless Riku attempts snatching my controller from me. With that thought in mind, I noticed that he indeed have thought of that since he was looking at my controller.
“Oi! You better not try taking it away from me!” I exclaimed as I glared at the silver-haired boy. “After all, we need to ‘cooperate’!”
The boy just rolls his eyes. “Cooperate? How the heck can we do that when you’re so insistent on getting the ties?”
“That’s because I like getting them achiev--er…trophies!” I replied back. “So if you help me get them ties, I’ll cooperate with you.”
Riku mumbles out ‘fine’ and he moves the legs towards the fish since I finally removed the octopus’ arms off the wall. When the character was near the fish, we tried climbing on it. Unfortunately, I was having some trouble getting up so all I really was doing was flailing his arms like an idiot.
“Really, _______? Really?” He said, earning a glare from me.
“Shut up! You put the legs in an awkward position so I can’t put the arms on the fish properly.” I exclaimed, clearly annoyed.
“So move the legs, please!”
“They’re fine. You’re just horrible at this game.” Riku stated and I threw a pillow at his face out of frustration.
I turned my attention back to the game as the boy sighs and puts the pillow away. Riku is so annoying. I thought as I managed to attach the arms onto the fish. Saying that I'm horrible when controlling the arms is so weird. Sheesh. I sighed and then the two of us managed to make the octopus get up onto the top.
"_______. Grab the tie." He commanded and I mumbled out 'I know' as I attempted grabbing the tie.
Thankfully, I successfully did and moved the arms back, then attached it to the fish again. He glanced at me and sighs when he saw that there was a rather goofy grin on my face as I looked at him, eyes sparkling.
"Let's have the octopus do a back-flip as celebration for getting the tie!" I exclaimed eagerly and he shook his head, which made me groan in response.
"You're no fun!" I complained out as the octopus literally fell off the snuggle-fish since I detached the arms off the object. "Why are you so serious about completing the story? We can fool around, you know!"
"No thanks." Riku replied as he had the character move across to the escalators. "I'd rather not and can you press the button since you have control of the arms still?"
A button, you say? I thought as a grin pops up on my face. Without hesitation, I have it move one arm onto the button and repeatedly pressed it. Riku stares at me in disbelief and I giggle a bit childishly, then the controller was suddenly yanked away from me.
I huffed and glared at the silver-haired boy. "H-hey! Don't just take it away from me like that!" I exclaimed and the teen just shakes his head.
I mumbled something under my breath as I crossed my arms over my chest and leaned on the couch. I guess I'll just stop playing with him since he's not letting me fool around. Meanie. I thought as the boy sighs. After all, I'll probably get annoyed while he seems so damn calm. I was so deep in thought that I didn't notice that Riku was trying to talk to me until he threw a pillow at my face.
"Oi! What was that for?!" I hissed out as I glared at him yet again.
"You weren't paying attention to me." He said. "Seriously, why are you so annoyed?"
"Because you're so annoying." I retorted while looking away, arms still crossed over my chest. "After all, I just wanted to have some fun with you but no, you're acting all serious and stuff."
Riku sighs and hands me back the controller. "Here. I'll stop acting that serious then. Just don't expect me to fool around like you or Sora, okay?" He stated, which made me grin at him.
"Thanks!" I exclaimed happily as I reached for the controller but he immediately pulled it away from me. "H-hey! Riku!!"
He smirks at my response. "First things first, there is some requirements." The boy said and I groaned, then impatiently gestured for him to continue. "First, I want you to calm down. I don't want to play if you're so grumpy right now."
"But you're the one making me grumpy..." I mumbled out. "So it's sort of your fault."
He rolls his eyes as he puts down the controllers and suddenly hugs me, which resulted in me blushing and getting nervous. W-what the?! I thought as I blinked my eyes in surprise. Why is he hugging me?! I was about to ask him but I soon realized what he was doing so I just remained in his arms, too embarrassed to really hug back. Surprisingly, it actually worked on calming me down, which was what he intended to do according to what I think. Finally, he let go of me and looks straight at my now calm (e/c) eyes.
"Looks like it worked." Riku stated with a grin as he tried to hold back a blush.
I mumbled out a 'yeah' as I looked away in embarrassment, then glanced back at him. "Can we go back to playing?" I asked, obviously wanting the awkward moment to be gone already.
He shook his head as I groaned yet again. "Just one more thing." He said while picking up the two controllers. "...will you be my girlfriend?"
I stared at him in shock and noticed that he was trying to remain cool but he only ended up making himself look cute, due to the fact that he was blushing. He can't be serious, right? I thought as I bit my lip nervously. But then again, he's blushing. So he must be.
"Are you willing to put up with me?" I asked as I crossed my arms over my chest. "After all, I'm not exactly...mature and patient..."
"It's fine." Riku replied once he was calm enough. "I know how to calm you down, anyways. Plus, it's much more amusing and fun that way." He added in with a smirk.
"C-can we just go back to playing please?" I muttered out as I looked away, attempting to hide my blushing face.
"Yeah but we'll go on a date later so don't get too comfortable." He stated, which I just nodded to.
With that, the two of us went back to playing Octodad and soon went on the date that he mentioned. Despite him being so annoying, the date ended up being rather fun and maybe a bit hot. I guess I shouldn't complain that he made it up with such affectionate love. After all, it definitely strayed me from those thoughts that kept complaining about how irritatingly calm he is. I just wish he wasn't so naughty sometimes because that didn't help me in calming down, unless you call fainting 'calming down'.
