Description
This is the same Carnotaurus model I posted some time ago, but now it's rigged and animated! It's just an animation test, so there is no background/environment...that in itself would be another project! For the time being, I'm happy with it the way that it is. I modeled, textured, rigged, animated and lit this dino using Maya, ZBrush, MARI, V-Ray, Composite and Photoshop.I will post the animation itself on DA, but first I have to apply for a deviantArt Film account I think. I'll look into that soon! For the time being here it is on Vimeo:Β vimeo.com/93456921
Thank you everyone for your kind comments on my previous Carnotaurus posts, they were very encouraging!

The animation you linked to is excellent, better than in certain movies, IMO. The animal has a sense of solidness about it, rather than the exaggerated fluidity or jiggling you see in said films. Great job!

Nice. I myself use Maya. Pain in the ass...that software.

I just checked out your new painting, it looks awesome! It would be cool to see the Carnotaurus model in that context, although at the moment things are a bit busy for me. Is this a short film you're planning?

Im actually thinking of pitching it for a fps/survival horror game. Im building up some decent concept art now for it and working with a friend of mine who an ex film producer to create a strong through line story arc. Though it would be fun to work on some cinematics for the pitch or even go down a live action trailer rout. This is all in the early stages as I'm sure you can tell, but for now its a bit of fun and thought you might like to get involved in your spare time? would be really fun to work together

Hey man, sorry for the really late reply. Right now things are a bit busy for me so at the moment I can't get involved in the project, although it sounds really cool! It makes me think of the Dino-Crisis/Resident Evil line of games...It would be cool to see what a dino fps horror survival game would look like with today's technology. Best of luck with the pitch!

Thanks! I was really inspired by your T-Rex rig and animation while working on this project, I found it on a 3D forum one day, it's incredible! really well made.

Very cool! But the muscle work should be more vivid to my mind.

Thanks! I think I know what you mean, the muscles don't really jiggle all that much during the animation (I was just trying to find a balance, something not too exaggerated but noticeable enough)

O_O
That model...looks like something out of a 100-200 million dollar production. Just..holy shit, man.
Seriously, they to hire you for a dinosaur documentary or something. Your talent is unbelievable.

The animation test is awesome man, very natural. You gonna use this for anything?

Thanks! I'm glad to hear the animation worked. For now all I have planned is the animation test, but maybe I'll animate this dino in an environment at some point.

It was just for fun, Carnotaurus has always been one of my favourite dinosaurs. Also, I was inspired by the reconstructions made by Stephen Czerkas in the 90's to make my own version of Carnotaurus.

You should really look to get your model in a game or film of some kind

He looks extremely awesome, like something I'd expect to see in a live action movie with dinosaurs. Beautiful work!
