The writing was on the wall for steam at this point and the main enemy sits beside the old steamer as if taunting her and offering the reminder that steam will vanish soon. The 1170 class diesel that sits in the yard shows signs of having seen heavy use in the most inhospitable locations around the state and has also been displaced from its normal workings by better machines, having a flow on effect to the yards in other depots.
